Archaeological Site Wheelchair Access

Does anybody know if it is possible to visit the Tindaris/Tindari Archaeological Site in a wheelchair? We can manage uneven or rough ground but cannot go up or down steps. Thank you.

Welcome to Sicily TimothyTurtle!

It is possible to enter the archaeological site with a wheelchair, and see the site in a wheelchair.

There are typically dirt paths to maneuver, and some are flat, but yes, also expect uneven and rough ground at times, sometimes a bit hilly, but without steps.

But then some areas will be difficult, so you might not find the entire site accessible, but sufficiently accessible to enjoy the experience.

Best wishes!

Prego TimothyTurtle,

The mosaics are unexpectedly beautiful and similar to Piazza Armerina’s Villa Romana del Casale (on a less grand scale), but it’s not at all touristy or crowded, and it's really lovely to visit.

Enjoy!

Next spring I plan to take the train from Cefalu to Messina, and would like to make a brief stop at the Oliveri-Tindari station to go up and see the Tyndaris archeological park. Does anyone know if it's possible to get a taxi or bus from (and back to) the train station?

Thanks!

Never leave such a transfer to change, and prearrange.
