Men's suit hire - is it possible?

We are travelling to Southern Brazil in October for a family wedding. We will be travelling around Brazil before the wedding so my husband doesn't really want to pack a formal suit. Does anyone know if/where we can hire a man's formal suit in or near Balneario Camboriu or Itajai please?

Its possible to rent, however this should be done some days ahead to make the adjustments in order to go to the party.

What maybe a possibility if are coming twice to an Airport, as most flights goes to GRU airport would be store there (8 reais per day which means around 2 GBP per day).

Anyway on local flights there arent as many restrictions with luggage as in Europe. Its allowed 23 KG to dispatch lugagge on local flights + carry luggage

Thanks Monte - I translated that site using Google Translate and it seems to just list menswear shops - but do you know if any of them rent out formal suits?

Thanks Philip - that's a useful suggestion. I'm not sure yet which airports we will be passing through (from UK to Brazil, to Iguassu, to Pantanal and back to Navagantes for Itajai) but it would certainly be an option to leave a bag.

Why not send it by mail to your relatives as soon as you arrive in Brazil? They can even send it to a dry cleaning!

there arent direct flights, you will need to stop either in Rio (GIG) or sao paulo (GRU or CGH). Most flights go to GRU, which is the main airport of Latin America.

If it helps, there is a post office in GRU airport if it helps opened mom-fri 9am-7pm and sat 9am-1pm. Best option would be Sedex (2 business days to deliver it) if you will send it, the price to Santa Catarina will be around 50 reais.

We are going to Sao Paulo for a wedding in February and don't want to carry a suit around for 3 weeks of travel.

From other posts it doesn't appear as though you can hire a suit? Is that correct?

We are staying near Paulista Avenue if that is any help.

Love to know if we can hire a suit as we don't want to have to lug it around and as we are going to different airports, wouldn't suit to leave in locker. Appreciate any help you can give us.

In the end we carried the suit (and my dress) in our luggage and let the creases drop out for a day or so before the wedding (we had to be there ahead of time for the rehearsal - it was like a military operation with everyone drilled in their part in the proceedings!) I think it is possible to hire, but you'd need to leave time for fittings etc. and the bride's family thought the quality might not be very good, so in the end we bought a light-weight suit for my husband (not all wool) which travelled very well if packed carefully.

It is true that internal flights seem very relaxed about what you carry (the rule about a 5kg or 7 Kg limit on your carry-on bag, and limit on number of items was widely ignored!) so an option might be to take the suit in a suit carrier on your internal flights, and hang it up at each overnight stop. Alternatively, take a close look at your internal flights as you may well find some at least require you to change at Sao Paulo (we were there 3 or 4 times in 3 weeks!) so leaving a bag might work.

Good luck - and enjoy the wedding!
