What to do with kids in the evening

Hi!

We're going to Cincinnati for a long weekend tomorrow. My husband is doing the Nascar driving experience Saturday afternoon. I was hoping too visit the zoo, the museum center, and maybe the Newport Aquarium. The thing is, they all seem to have the same hours (daytime only). Any suggestions on fun, moderately-priced attractions that might suit our family in the evening hours (5 p.m. and later)? Outdoors are fine, too, but nothing too strenuous for a toddler. We would prefer a unique experience (no Chuck E Cheese, etc.). Our boys are nearly 3, 15, and 10. Thanks in advance for any advice you might have!

Hofbrau Newport has a very nice outdoor biergarden where youngsters would be welcome. The food is not particularly good but it is okay and the beer is first rate. Walk across the street to NewportontheLevee afterward (where you could also take in a movie) and get desert at the Cold Stone Creamery before retiring after your long day. Of course much depends on where you will be staying overnight . . .

Take a look at what's going on at the Hamilton county parks at www.greatparks.org

How about mini golf?

There is an Oktoberfest in CovingtonKY at Mainstraße Village (http://www.mainstrasse.org/). There is plenty of food and drink plus crafts, music and a few rides for kids. The people watching is pretty interesting as well.

You could walk across the Roebling Suspension Bridge and check out the Ohio River. The bridge preceded the more famous Brooklyn Bridge, also a Roebling creation, by a few decades and once was the longest suspension bridge in the world.

In the north suburbs near the Tri-County Mall is Skyzone, an indoor trampoline park, Dave and Busters, and an indoor go-cart track. My kids have been to all three and enjoyed them. I second Newport on the Levee. You could also do a river cruise. You may be able to find a family-friendly one that leaves late afternoon or early evening.
