Cades Cove or Roaring Fork

My friend and I are heading up to Gatlinburg in a few weeks. We only have a two days and she has never been to the area. If you had to choose one or the other, which would you recommend? Ive been to Cades cove, but never roaring fork.

Thanks

I like Roaring Fork. It is less crowded.

They are both great places, but I would choose Roaring Fork first. It is easier to get there since it is right in Gatlinburg, and the traffic isn't near as bad as Cades Cove.

I would just see how it goes, and if you have time, try and do both.

Well, I guess I'm going to buck the trend. I'd choose Cades Cove myself.

I love the wide-open spaces of the cove, the wildlife viewing, exploring the old settler's cabins, the hikes, etc.

Even the drive to the Cove from the Gatlinburg area along Little River Road is a great one.

I prefer Cades Cove BUT...you might want to try Roaring Fork since you've never been.

I'd say Roaring Fork, especially due to your time being limited. You can do Roaring Fork and still have plenty of time for other activities in the same day. Cades Cove, just due to the time in getting there and back could eat up a large portion of your day.

Roaring Fork if it has opened for the season yet, if not, Cades Cove.

Will Roaring Fork be opened when you go?

Roaring Fork is a lot shorter. Roaring Fork has a lot of beautiful water scenes that Cades Cove does not have. But Cades Cove has more animals, buildings and different scenery.

Go to web sites that show pictures and videos (webshots.com, youtube,)and see the difference.

Roaring Fork will not be open to vehicles until March 7, 2008.

If Roaring Fork opens March 7th you'll be able to go there. Normally I would say go to Cade Cove but since you only have two days to spend I would say Roaring Fork would be the best choice.
