Planning a 3 night stay during mid October. Do any restaurants have heated outdoor dining? Best recommendations please!

Yes, some have those outdoor propane heaters. Leunig's definitely has them. By mid-October it's a crap shoot as to whether you can eat outdoors at all. If it's warm enough, some restaurants will still open up their outdoor tables, but others will have all their outdoor stuff put away already. You'll just have to see what the weather brings once you are here.

I had to go to upstate NY last October and was surprised to find almost no outdoor dining, since the daytime weather was still very nice and I thought it was a lost opportunity for the restaurants. However, as soon as the sun started going down the temperature dropped much more precipitously than it does here in Virginia, so I could see that it would not have been cost-effective for restaurants to try to do this. Where I was was not a busy tourist town like Burlington, though. My long-winded way of agreeing with vert-mont-er that it's hard to know in advance.
