Amish goods shopping advice

My family is visiting from Hawai'i and we are interested in shopping for some things we don't have easy access to at home. I am looking for high quality gardening hand tools such as grub hoes (head only no handle for easy transport). Also high quality oil lamps. I thought these might be things old order Amish use but I have no idea where to go to find them.

Also any chance anywhere sells the beautiful Amish made rocking chairs in a semi knocked-down/shippable or airline checkable condition?

Wow! That's a tall order. I only purchased a pocket knife and a key holder for my belt. Not the cheapest but built to last!

I would go where the Amish shop either Weavers Store http://www.weaversstoreibc.com (go to the main store in fivepointville-

or Goods Store http://www.goodsstores.com (go to their largest store in East Earl- in the same complex as Shady Maple)

Both are Mennonite owned and thus closed Sundays

They will both have oil lamps and garden tools I would call ahead though about buying just the heads They may not sell these but possible could point you to someplace that could- the Amish are frugal and I can see places selling just the heads

For the Rockers I would contact Peaceful Valley www.peacefulvalleyfurniture,con (Again Mennonite owned and closed Sunday) They have a lrt of Rockers and ship a lot of their furniture- although I don't know about by air Talk to them ahead of time to make sure they can five you what you want For d semi knocked down they may point you to one of their Amish suppliers

PS one thing to remember is that most Amish Church districts now allow battery operated and/or solar powered devices so the market for oil lanterns is not what it used to be You may find mostly decorative llanterns rather than those for use around the farm
