I'm in the midst of a meeting, will post some hotels and things to do later.
Do you have any preferred types of activities/sights you wish to see outside the park? We really enjoy the Pennsylvania Dutch areas to the East of Hershey. If that appeals to you there will be lots of hotels convenient to both areas.
Some hotels outside of Hershey to consider would be as follows:
Hampton Inn, 195 Hershey Road, Hummelstown
Best Western, 7500 Allentown Blvd, Harrisburg
Sleep Inn, 7100 Allentown Blvd, Harrisburg
Holiday Inn Express, 7744 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg
Baymont by Wyndham, 5680 Allentown Blvd, Harrisburg
Best Western Premier, 800 East Park Drive, Harrisburg
Spring Hill Suites, 115 Museum Drive, Hershey
Other sites of interest in the immediate area would be:
Antique Auto Museum
The Hershey Story (museum)
Tanger Outlets, Hershey
Troegs Brewing, Hershey
Indian Echo Caverns, Hummelstown
Olde Factory, Hummelstown (if you like antiques & eclectic things)
PA State Capitol tour, Harrisburg
PA State Museum, Harrisburg
National Civil War Museum, Harrisburg
Susquehanna Art Museum, Harrisburg
Let me know if you want any specific information or if you have any special interests, I can recommend things accordingly.
The Hotel Hershey is amazing and depending on dates/days of the week you can find good deals that include breakfast. The perks are great - free admission to the Hershey Story Museum, the Butterfly House and the Hershey Gardens. We take advantage of the complimentary car service to surrounding attractions.
If you are here over a weekend, the Broad Street Market, the Millworks (restaurant and artist galleries) and Midtown in Harrisburg are worth seeing on a Friday or Saturday.
