I am sorry you had a problem.

It is a very small town and they probably roll up the streets at 9PM when it is as cold as it has been. I hope you made it to Hood River or Troutdale.

Most if not all very small towns in Oregon close early in the evenings. Some close early year round - most do in winter.

The several times I've been to Idaho, they do the same there. That's just life in a small town ;-)

The gas station I used in Cascade Locks in September was very nice. I stopped around 9:30 at night. The attendant quickly filled my gas tank and cleaned my windows. The Shell Station has 24 hours. Also, Cascade Locks is only 30 minutes away or so from Portland where there is a rash of 24 hour gas stations. Its best to not drive on empty in any rural area. Glad you made it safe and sound.
