Anniversary B&B suggestions.

We usually travel for our September anniversary every year; however this year we have a family trip planned in June and a beach trip planned in September after our anniversary. Our actual anniversary falls on a Saturday, so I was looking for a unique private and romantic bed and breakfast that serves dinner. Would really love a private pool or hot tub. I really want to stay within an hour’s drive of the Burlington NC area. I am posting this on several forums in hopes of an answer. Does anyone have any local suggestions?

Can't really think of anything that fits the bill of both "romantic" and with a pool in the Triangle area. There are some great hotels here. In Cary, there is the Umstead Hotel, which has one of the best restaurants in the State and is one of those places where your blood-pressure drops when you walk in....the service is that good. There is a price-tag to match. http://www.theumstead.com It is in Cary and there is not much to do directly around there...at least not without getting in your car. But you won't want to leave.

Another thing you may consider is checking out Durham. If you are looking for quaint and victorian, this is NOT it. But if you want to have a fabulous weekend, stay at either the 21 C hotel or the Durham Hotel. The 21C has an amazing bar and restaurant, as well as a revolving and world class contemporary art collection. http://www.21cmuseumhotels.com/durham/visit/about/ The Durham has great food and service and a beautiful roof-top bar and restaurant. http://thedurham.com You can walk to other restaurants and galleries, as well as go see a play or other event at DPAC (broadway shows, etc https://www.dpacnc.com/suntrust-broadway-series-2017-18 ) or Carolina Theater. http://www.carolinatheatre.org . Here is a map of things to do arund these two hotels (there are across the street from each other, so you could stay at 21C and still visit the rooftop! http://www.21cmuseumhotels.com/durham/visit/neighborhood/

I would check out the Inn at Bingham School near Saxaphaw which is a great spot on Saturdays in the summer. My own anniversary spots are Fearrington in Pittsboro and the Sienna Hotel in Chapel Hill, all well within an hour.

Opps, forgot Fearrington. Lovely spot for a getaway...and the food! Away from everything, but the scenary is beautiful! No pool though, which is why I probably didn't think of it. Sienna has never been a fav of mine for a getaway though.. It is a lovely lovely hotel and Il Palio is wonderful. But it is away from everything, so to do anything other than hang at the hotel and eat in the restuarant, you have to get in your car. Its kinda in strip mall world in Chapel Hill. If you want to hang in Chapel Hill at a lovely inn, there is always the Carolina Inn. The recent renovations are great and you have walkable Chapel HIll and the campus at your doorstep.

Last year we ended up at the Sienna and were able to take advantage of their shuttle service to get downtown. I agree, though, it's not nearly as special as Fearrington.

Have you checked out Burke Manor Inn? Its owned by the old owners of Saint Jacques (5-star French restaurant in Raleigh). Li and Lori opened the Inn a few years ago. Li is an excellent chef and Lori is a wonderful hostess.

How about the Graylyn Estate in Winston-Salem (looks kind of castle-like) or go more mountainy and check out the Pilot Knob Inn near Pilot Mountain.
