July conference and pleasure

I’ll be traveling with a friend to Sedona for a conference in July. We fly into Phoenix on Sat. And will be driving to Enchantment in Sedona as that is where the conference is. We are until Sunday evening. Conference is Sunday nite through Tuesday night and we are then staying on until Friday. We will fly out of Phoenix Friday afternoon. On our free days we would like to 1. Go up in Hot Air balloon, see the Grand Canyon, play golf.

I’m starting too think w should consider checking up if Enchantment on Thursday morning and go to GC and stay somewhere near here on Thursday night? Will that be closer to a Phoenix for our departure n Friday? Any recommendations on the best way to fit all this in would be appreciated,

Enchantment Resort is world class with much to do: fine dining, hiking in Boynton Canyon Trail, pools, tennis, telescope viewing, etc, etc. You may not want to leave! Anyways, do secure lodging at one of the 6 lodges in the South Rim of the Grand Canyon for Wednesday night:

You can then return to Sedona or closer to the PHX Airport for your last night before your flight.

Grand Canyon will be farther from Phoenix. Enchantment to PHX is about 2 1/2 hours. Grand Canyon Village to PHX is about 4 - 4 1/2 hours. You could do the Grand Canyon as a day trip, but if you want to see sunset and/or sunrise at the Canyon, then an overnight (providing the weather is clear) would allow that. But you would then have a 4+ hour drive to the airport.

I don't have any personal experience with golf or balloon rides in Sedona, so can't help you with that beyond what you could find yourself with internet searches.

Look at a map. Grand Canyon National Park is north of Sedona. PHX is south, by about the same distance. Figure a little over 2 hours between each. GC to PHX is 4+ hours.

Your concierge at Enchantment can coordinate all other Sedona activities for you. You’re paying a premium price that includes that service. Take advantage of it.
