Looking for unusual things to do/see while in Phoenix ...

We have been to Phoenix multiple times but are looking for some perhaps out of the way/off the beaten path/unusual activities which we may not have done already. It does not have to be right in Phoenix, but at least within about a 30 mile or so distance from downtown.

For example, on one trip we discovered the very interesting Soleri Bell workshop in Scottsdale.

We have also visited the beautiful Desert Botanical Gardens, on one occasion seeing an exhibit of Chihuly glass placed throughout the garden.

Any suggestions along these lines by experienced travelers would be very much welcomed.

Thanks in advance.

Have you been to the Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch in Gilbert? Go during the daytime to walk and see birds, to the observatory on clear nights (weekends only).

Boyce Thompson Arboretum is definitely worth the trip, very different from Botanical Garden. You could see the world's smallest museum in Superior.

The little museum on the Apache Trail (name escapes me at the moment) is well worth a visit.

Come walk around downtown Mesa and see the sculptures then go to Organ Stop Pizza for dinner.

Have you driven up to the towers at South Mountain Park?

Have you been to the little park with the Goldwater Memorial on Lincoln Drive?

Don't miss Governor Hunt's Tomb and Hole in the Rock at Papago Park!

And I'm just getting started!!

The Cosanti/Soleri Bell location in Scottsdale is great. We've bought about 4 smaller bells from them in the past and will be returning when we go back to Phoenix to purchase a few more as gifts.

If you've been to Taliesin West already, the night tours are fabulous and quite different from the day tour. At night, you can almost imagine what the area was like when FLW built his winter home. I've been on the night tour at least twice but didn't get there (again) on this last trip.

Cosanti is in Paradise Valley, not Scottsdale, but yes, worth a visit.
