New Delhi: Staying in Aero city verses hotels in Connaught

Hello everyone!

I'm planning my first trip to India. I'll be staying in New Delhi for 3 nights, March 4th-7th; then onward to Agra and Jaipur. I have several questions...

1) is it better to stay in Aero city near the airport or in the center of town near Connaught Place since there are more choices and luxury hotels in Aero city? I'll be hiring a car and driver anyway but just concerning about traffic and getting to and from hotel to sight seeing places.

2) can Agra (Taj Mahal) be seen in one day?

3) is it recommended to stay the night in Agra before the 4 hours drive to Jaipur, and how's driving at night?

Thank you very much in advance and hope to receive some good advices!

Phil

There is a counter of Airtel and Vodafone at terminal, you can take from there.

There are forex where you can convert, rates will be expensive wrt downtown so conver small amount needed for taxi and a day.

During day time its ok to take prepaid but if arriving during mid night then may avoid prepaid and go for hotel pickup, radio cabs are also there,i will prefer them wrt prepaid.

In march normally flight will operates on schedule. If Jaipur to Delhi and international flight are booked on same ticket then its ok but if booked on separate ticket then should have sufficient gap between, at least 4 hr (Jet/Vistara/Airindia operates from T3,if other airlines then add 20-30 minute as you will arrive at different terminal and a 10-15 minute cab/bus ride is needed).

Hi Rahul2604

Thanks very much for your SUPER helpful advice!

I'll definitely have a hotel pick me up because I won't get in until midnight and not to change money at the airport!

Hello,

I just need some clarifications if someone can assist!

I'll be going to India for only a week.

What kind of visa do I need as an American?

Can the visa be obtain upon arrival?

What's the visa fee?

I tried to applied online and kept getting visa services that required me to pay like $120 for it.

Thanks and look forward to some clarifications!

Cheers!

HI Danijelp,

Open recommendations are against the forum guidelines. Instead try 2-3 members / registered tour operators by sending messages to them.

I’m staying at Aerocity and it’s very expensive to eat here plus it’s quite sterile - doesn’t have the true vibe of India. I have already stayed at Connaught Place and Saket and would choose COnnaught Place first
