Not that it needs more tourists, I still think that it's underrated by many forum regulars, for one reason or another.

But there's no other place in Vietnam that can fit most of the hills.

Mountains, hills, national park, scenic train ride, bay (a large one) with bayside walk suitable for bike, islet (though just a tiny one), natural lakes , waterfalls, water holes and springs, beaches (including secluded ones and rocky ones) or with boardwalk and beach clubs, rivers with river cruises and tours and riverwalks, peninsula with low mountain trekking, rural traditional villages, ethnic villages, theme parks for children, a top 5 night life scene, pilgrimage sites, an international airport, a short distance from the cruise port of Chân Mây (but there's also the Tiên Sa Port that have been receiving its share of cruise ships), fishing villages, street murals, local markets, night markets (several)...

I mean, you name it.

If you name one hundred criteria, Đà Nẵng will have more of them than anywhere else in Vietnam.

You just need to come and explore it for yourself.

Cheers,

John

Agree and it's so clean.

We enjoyed Da Nang the last time we had 10 nights there so that is why we fly to Da Nang again in combination with Hoi An again and in between we fly to Nha Trang

Still enough to explore in Da Nang

Nha Trang is better. The water is actually blue.

Da Nang is kind of dirty. 😜

I am sure you are right John, in that some may love it there. I don't think it is necessarily underrated by regulars here, more that people, myself included, are not turned on by the massive overdevelopment. The mile after mile of mega resort hotels along the coast is just not what a lot of people come to Vietnam to see. We spent a week there a few years ago and try as we might, it didn’t inspire us ever to return. Each to their own.

Go to the north side, Crellston, just below the Monkey Mountains.

And Bob,

Đà Nẵng is known nationwide as the best city to live in.

Nha Trang has nowhere near the diversity.

Have to agree with Crellston Da Nang has lost the beachfront to concrete. As to Nha Trang I dont get where Bob says the water is blue. The East Sea is sedimented green and probably doesn't lose that until half way to the Spratleys. These 2 Cities have not grasped the greening that is going on in Vung Tau and Phan Thiet.

Yep.

Three years ago there was a small section to the North that they hadn't wrecked yet.

But, unfortunately, they will soon, if they haven't already.

Like I said, go to the north side where the Mân Thái Fishing Village is.

Or go to the bay side in the northwest of the Sơn Trà Peninsula.

There are a few smaller hotels and a mini-resort there at the Tiên Sa Beach (near the fishing port of the same name). You may also choose to camp.

From there, you can hike along the rocky northern shore to the black rock beach (Bãi Đá Đen).

You can also ride the road up the low mountain and walk down to it. It's an easy ride. You can also camp here if you want to.

If you're fit, a bicycle ride around the Sơn Trà Monkey Mountain is well worth it.

There are also some hiking trails up there. Check out the radar station and the old helicopter pad of the US military.

Hike up to the Bàn Cờ Peak or to the Ghềnh Bàng Beach.

Paragliding any one?

You can even take a boat tour to visit the secluded beaches along the base of the mountain.
