September trip - PCR test and hotel

Hi there!

I'm headed to the Galapagos Islands for a dream trip with my dad from Sept 10 to 20! We're super excited and I've done some reading on this forum. I wanted to ask updated information on whether it is possible to get a PCR (not antigen) test on the Galapagos Islands. We already booked our flights and do not have an extra day in Quito. We need the PCR test to return to our home country (Canada). Can anyone confirm whether it's possible to do the PCR test in Santa Cruz near GPS airport? (I've read it *might* be possible to get it at the Red Cross or Centre de Salud.. but would appreciate confirmation :)!)

On that vein, I'm a bit hesitant to pre-book hotels given potential Covid complications. Is it recommended to at least book Night 1? Got any good recommendations for a good one-nighter?

Many thanks for all your help!

You will need a RT-PCR test before you arrive in the Galapagos. (As of Sep. 1)

Yes, we will get a test in Canada before the galapagos.

My question was for my return flight home. Can I a PCR test on the islands?

Thanks!

The latest is that you need EITHER a full vaccination, OR a negative PCR test (unless coming from India or Brazil - then you also need to quarantine for 10 days I believe).

So we don't need PCR to enter Galapagos, if we are vaccinated?

Ludmila: You need BOTH to enter Galapagos, EITHER one OR the other to enter Ecuador.
