Im going to hong kong in september and it will be my first time travelling alone i am meeting a friend there but just incase i am left alone are public transport signs in English aswell as Chinese?
Yes. Public transport in HK is very easy to use. Do a little pre-planning and downoad a map of the Metro just to make life a little easier.
One of the safest big cities in the world. Subway signs are bilingual and announcements are tri lingual (Cantonese, Mandarin, English).
General safety is not an issue as long as you exercise the normal precautions. Do watch for rogue taxi drivers trying to overcharge picking up passengers from Lan Kwai Fong late at night, Canton Road shopping area, and Peak Tram Terminus. Taxi drivers must use the meter. Surcharges can only be added for luggage, paid tunnels and bridges.
HK is generally a place but....
