You'll get massive discounts at the New Years markets after midnight on the eve.

Not so "fresh" flowers.

In terms of branded fashion, it's getting into the 50% off territory already. Size and style options might become very limited in a couple of weeks.

The Flower Market on CNY Eve isn't the place to visit if you aren't prepared to brave sardine-like crowds.

For winter sales (in terms of fashion / general shopping) it usually starts at around Xmas so by CNY, at its last stage, most sizes / styles would have been gone

But don't worry, all year round all shops offer discounts of at least 20-30% on just about everything including the new arrivals. Newly opened shops offer such discount from day 1.

So a posted "discount" is generally meaningless here. Discount of what? Without knowing what the original price was (or in case of travellers: what the exact same item costs in your home country or other localities along your travel route) you can not tell whether you get a good deal or not.
