Reau suggested we have a thread for Covid test matters alone. So being more obedient than either Lolo or Bogey, here we go!

I hope people will post their experiences and info as they work through this process. I also hope they'll post results of questions/problems/timing issues so others can get that info. It is all so new and ever shifting, like the sand on your fav Maui beach :-).

Right now, there are many people having trouble finding one of the "partners" that the State made mandatory, for example. Others are having trouble getting promised test results fast enough.

One place to monitor constantly is the FAQ in the state's Covid section. Here's a link, for those who may not have it:

https://hawaiicovid19.com/travel/#travel-FAQs

They are doing a better job of keeping this updated, but I wouldn't hesitate to ask questions of them if something doesn't make sense.

I hope people will post their pre-arrival and arrival experiences here, for everyone's information. The folks traveling in October and November are those who prob face the most craziness..........good luck to them especially!

My husband and I just took our CVS COVID tests, so now we wait. If we don't have the negative test results back by 5:00am Thursday, we will change our trip to FL & reschedule our VBRO stay for next June, for our daughter's high school graduation gift.

Good luck! Was it a drive thru test or a walk in one?

Drive thru test being sent to Quest Diagnostics. It was easy and the CVS is within walking distance from our home.

Best wishes and hope that the test results come in quickly. You mention that you need to have the test results in hand by Thursday, 5 pm. Is that the time of your departing flight to Maui or does that time represent the 24 hours before your flight departs, when test results have to submitted electronically?

Have appointments set for my wife and I. Utilizing Quest Diagnostics through Wall Mart. Big issue for Quest (and Walgreens) only 2 that provide in person testing in Utah, neither will test under 18 . so we set up Vault mail in for our daughter. Fingers Crossed.

I think Jack said 5 AM? Sounds like the CVS process was pretty easy.

Wow-how complicated, VTC.

That was my question as well Reau.

My flight is not until December but it departs on a Thursday morning.

My understanding is no more than 72 hours prior to departure flight so a Monday morning test but test results are required to be input to Safe Travels profile 24 hours prior to boarding which only allows 48 hours for test results to come back to you ....so that would be a Wednesday morning. Sometime within that 24 hrs that the results(if we’ve actually received them) they would be input into the state system and a QR code generated.

This makes for an extremely tight window.....

I am very interested in folk’s experiences as well and thank you to everyone who has taken the time to update those of us who are so looking forward to coming back to Maui.

Thanks SW for the correction. I meant 5 a.m. And yes, Nalismom, the timeframes to get results are very tight - one would actually require them within 48 hours in order for results to be uploaded 24 hours prior to departure.

We leave the house at 5:00 am for the San Diego airport. Our flight lays over in AZ and departs from their at 10:26 am, so we had our tests done today at 11:00 am.

BTW, I also deliberately planned my departure date for a Thursday (in April) to allow for weekday CV testing. I will also need to be tested on the Monday, with test results upload on the Wednesday. That's cutting it close to the wire for sure.
