London in January 2019

Hi.. I will be travelling with my wife in Jan 2019 to London for 10 days staying near Buckingham Palace. Please let me know the best things to do in winter during January. Also guide us about which transport card would be best to use tubes, buses etc. in the city. How much will it cost us?

Depends on the weather I would suggest the usual Tourist sites, what are your interests ?

For art of course there is the National Gallery & National Portait Gallery in Trafalgar Sq.

Wallace Collection in Manchester Sq of Oxford St & Royal Academy in Piccadilly.

There is also of course the other main attractions. Tower of london. St Pauls & Westminster Abbey among others.

For day trips out of Central London there is Greenwich, Windsor & Hampton Court

Oyster card will be best for public transport, or you could use a contactless cards. London Buses no longer take cash so you will need one or the other.

My wife and I visit London for a week every January.

Each day we see a west end theatre and use the 'Get Into London Theatre' promotion:

Pick up tickets at the venue box office and there is NO fee, just the ticket price of £10, £20, £30 or £40.

Most stores have January sales.

For events you can use sites such as 'Time Out":

and 'All in London"--'What's On":

London has many, many things to see, and what appeals to me may not appeal to you.

This site may give you ideas.
