Train to London

I am planning to go to London from Windermere by train leaving around 13:00. The routes I see show a 7 minute transfer in Oxenholme. Is this a reasonable thing to book? I am from the US so I am unfamiliar with how timely the trains are.

Thanks for any response.

That's fine. If the first train is delayed and you miss the connection (fairly unlikely on that route) the conductor can endorse your ticket so that is valid on later services.

The train to London is usually a bit late so it should be fine. Oxenholme is only a small station with three platforms. You will just have to walk through the underpass from platform three to platform one.

When is this?

If a few weeks out have you considered booking the cheaper “Advance” Ticket.

If not consider an alternative train!

For example, if today;

Then the 1307 departure with a change at Preston and another at Crewe is only £83

Whereas the 13:58 departure with the one change at Oxenholme is a whopping £257.

For an additional 40 minutes journey time I know which train I’d be taking!

The change at Preston and Crewe are so simple you don’t even change Platforms.

October 7th.

13:07 departure has two changes and is £83

13:58 departure has one change and is £55:90

The second train arrives London Euston a mere 10 minutes later than the earlier train.

Please note these are “Advance Singles” and are the price if you booked today, and only for the actual departure you book.

Fares will only go North from now until the day of travel.

The train planners in UK will not schedule an impossible journey. Every station has a minimum connection time (which depends how big the station is) built in to the journey planner.
