Is the easiest way to go from Vancouver to Victoria Island taking the Pacific bus and then ferry? We are staying at the Renaissance Harbour in Vancouver. Can we do the trip in one day? Thank you.

If you scroll down on the right side under top questions you'll find a very good article about all the ways you can gete to Victoria.

PCL isn't the only choice but it's a good one. You do need to know that it's a 4 hour trip one way from downtown vancouver to downtown Victoria and then another 4 hour return so it will be a very long day if you do a one day trip.

A less time consuming way to go is to travel by float plane with Harbor Air or by helicopter with the Helijet, from downtown Vancouver to downtown Victoria This takes about 35 minutes. I recommend that people travel over this way in the morning and then you'll have a full day to see Victoria and even visit Butchart's garden's if you want. Return by PCl bus /ferry/bus combination which will give you the lovely ride trhough the Gulf Islands. If you're coming anytime between now and early September it will still be light late and you could take the 7 pm ferry which will still let you view the idslands as they're primarily on the frst part out of Swartz Bay.

If you have the time to do an overnight in Victoria there's a lot to see and do for one or two days.

Oops - and just a small clarification: it's Victoria ON Vancouver Island. There is no Victoria Island here.

When are you coming? In tourist season, there is one option that is quite nice. Fly from the Harbour Air dock very close to your hotel. It's a 35 min flight from downtown Vancouver to downtown Victoria. Take an early flight. Open the following blue link to see the walking route to the seaplane dock:

www.harbour-air.com

Their dock now has the name of Vancouver Harbour Water Airport. That would be a sightseeing trip in its own right. Then visit Victoria for the morning. Perfectly walkable.

Take the 1h00 Pacific Coach Lines bus that visits Butchart Gardens on the way back to Vancouver. It allows about 2 hours to visit the gardens, then catches the 5 ferry, arriving back at Pacific Central Station about 7h30 pm. Here is the info about that option:

And here's the map that shows you the bus route from Victoria to your hotel:

You would have a very scenic ride on the ferry across Georgia Strait. The bus takes you to balloon E and you would need a taxi to your hotel at balloon F. About $15-18.
