We will be in Vancouver for two nights in late June prior to joining a cruise. Can anyone suggest a hotel that is conveniently close to the port? It does not have to be fancy as we just want to do some sightseeing before the cruise starts.

As for sightseeing, any suggestions for two days? This will be our first trip to Vancouver since 1986. I know we will go to the Stanley Park and most likely to the aquarium. Anything else that is interesting?

Any downtown hotel is a $10 or less taxi to the port. Some are walking distance. Use Trivago for price info and bring us a short list. I start you with the Metropolitan. -

Start by doing some research on this web site by typing in 'things to do' in the space provided. Have a look at the Tourism Vancouver web site. Read TA trip reports from previous tourists.

I find it more germane and rewarding to do my own pre-trip explorations than to require others to plan it all for me. When I have a plan I can post it here for comment and refinement. Then the local experts can be most helpful.

Do the usual touristy things I guess. If it is an absolutely beautiful, cloudless day then go to Grouse Mountain, you will find the link below. Free transportation is available from Canada Place to the foot of the mountain. Then you take the gondola to the top. It's not inexpensive but if it is a gorgeous day worth every penny.

Is Executive Suites hotel in Burnaby at a convenient location for access to downtown? The hotel info says 8 km to downtown. How easy is it to get to downtown from this hotel?

You would take the skytrain. It would be like staying at the Yorkdale Holiday Inn.

You might look at the Executive Vintage Park - same company, but located in town. It's an older property, a bit dated, but perfectly fine for one night. They have a shuttle car/van that will take you to the cruise terminal.

I stay there sometimes when I'm in town for business.

Thanks for that the info about Executive Vintage Park. I will certainly look into it. The shuttle to the cruise terminal will certainly help. I already booked the other hotel in Burnaby but I can cancel that reservation.
