Hi

,I am planning to take my very active 55 years old mom for quality time with me in mid March,we both love to walk instead of public transportation.

Vancouver is safe. There isn't real anywhere that I would call dangerous.

March can be a crappy time to be walking - cold and rain. Bring boots.

Anywhere downtown is good.

The West End which is Burrard and westward is a neighbourhood of trees and a mix of highrise and old houses. It's a lovely 30-45 minute walk and ends at either Stanley Park or the beach/seawall. Along the way you'll cross Davie or Denman Streets and their many ethnic restaurants. You can walk a different street each day. Lots to see. The seawall circling 3 sides of the city is the main walk-about.

Also, downtown isn't particularly hilly so walking around is easy,

Well, 55 does seem ancient, especially to those in their early 20s. ;-) Kudos to Mona, though, for giving some essential pieces of information (approx. ages of visitors, plus the fact that they enjoy walking) so that posters can give her useful information! (And now, this 57 year old is grabbing her snowshoes and heading out on the trail ...)

Budget will narrow it down a bit. As said anywhere downtown. Downtown is very walkable and lots of transit.

If it's a nice day and you want a bit of a different view than just being downtown, take the bus the #4 UBC BUS on Granville Street and alight at Jericho Beach Park. Walk down the hill to the shoreline and head left along the beach. Nice views of the city and a great walk.

We were happy to see an assortment of Airbnbs in Vancouver so something to consider. Vancouver is quite walkable but there may be some places in the farther corners of the city that you want to see. The bus and skytrain systems are very easy to navigate. We used a public transportation app called "Transit" and it was very helpful in navigating everything for those times we wanted to use it. Best of luck!

Forget about Airbnb's in Vancouver.

Short term (less than 30 days) vacation rentals are illegal in Vancouver.

Unless the owner lives on-site.

There are tons of airbnb properties listed in Vancouver that are the "entire place" so either people have gotten around the law you mentioned or they are disregarding it completely.
