Live Aqua vs. El Dorado Casitas

Has anyone been to both properties? We have been to Live Aqua (and also Unico and then Secrets Los Cabos) and very much enjoyed it, but we like to try new places and our TA recommended the Casitas. We currently have a beachfront Casita booked, the kind that's your own little hut. I like the idea of walking straight out my door to the beach. However, I am concerned that the Casitas won't be nice enough - I see complaints about old, outdated rooms; we don't mind a rustic vibe vs. the sleek modern LA, but I hate broken or dingy rooms. If we love really good food and drinks and no chair game, will we enjoy the Casitas? The photos of the restaurants look really boring but the grounds look lovely and perfect for distancing. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

I stayed at EDM last month. I didn’t stay in the casitas but I can attest to the rest of the property. I have also stayed at Live Aqua.

My biggest complaint about EDM is the pools are not heated. If you’re planning a trip during cooler months then I would go with Live Aqua for the heated pools.

As far as restaurants and food quality, I prefer EDM. I didn’t find the restaurants boring & there is a wide variety of choices on the menus.

The beach is nicer at EDM & they offer nightly entertainment. I also like the layout of the resort better than at LA.

The beach cabanas at EDM are free of charge but optimal locations are taken by 7am. There were always loungers available by the pools. There is a charge for cabanas at LA unless you are staying in a suite.

I jprefer the overall beachy resort vibe of EDM over LA. We’re tentatively planning a trip back to EDM in July.

If you haven’t already, join the EDM private fan group on Facebook. You’ll be able to glean specific info regarding the casitas.

He haven’t stayed at Casitas but toured a few years ago with friends that were looking for a wedding locale. We thought the entire resort felt a little unkept. The paint touch ups on the exteriors of the building were noticeable and didn’t match the original color well. The doors and door jambs were all nicked and scuffed. The rooms we toured (don’t remember exactly which categories) were all dark and little musty.

If you’ve stayed at the nicer resorts in your post and enjoyed them, I don’t think you’d like EDC.

We stayed at Casitas this August. The rooms are very dark. And when it rains they leak. They moved us from one room because water was coming out of a light fixture which we found rather dangerous. But the second room leaked too. So upkeep appeared to be not what I would’ve expected.
