Overnight stay Drive DC to Niagara Falls

We will be driving from DC to Niagara in Aug and are looking for a place to sleep on the way. Area itself doesn't matter as long as it is safe ,clean and ideally quiet(not deserted). The Microtel in Bath seems to have very good reviews and much lower priced than any hotels in Corning etc.

Would really appreciate any insights or recommendations before booking though..is the area safe?

Thank you!

Generally speaking the entire Finger Lakes Region is quite safe, safer than either end of your trip. Safety would not be a concern if I were looking to book anything in that area

How about the Days Inn in Geneva, NY? It is right near a lake and Hobart College, and its description makes it seem a lot better than the typical Days Inn.

I hope I'm right because we are staying there on the way back from Toronto to DC.

thanks for the feedback and suggestion, will look into Geneva Ny too. We will be drving through Lancaster PA, what route would you suggest? Google maps suggests the fastest route through Harrisburg then Williamsport PA north on 15, does that makes sense or is there a better route?

thanks

That route is fine.

Have you looked at Hammondsport? Near Bath but smaller and quainter. Right on Keuka Lake.

I would recommend Corning over Bath. Corning has a lovely main street called Market Street with nice shops and some good restaurants. Both are safe but Corning is a nice quaint town - right on the river, great spot to walk around (Bath's downtown is not comparable) There is a broad range of hotel pricing in Corning. If you are looking for something likely priced similar to the Microtel in Bath but in Corning check the pricing at the Comfort Inn. It is only a few blocks away from the main street but likely to have lower pricing since it is not right on the main street.
