We are looking to hike in Zion for a few days in mid sept. Do we need to pre book anything? Also, we are doing day hikes and are pretty fit. What are some of the best hikes?

Buy your pass when you enter the park.

If you want to bike, then you should probably make advance reservations for an eBike with one of the outfitters in Springdale.

Best is subjective. Start with doing some research on the official park website for Zion. You'll find hike descriptions. The two big hikes in Zion are Angel's Landing and the Narrows.
