About
A brand new restaurant, opened in June 2012, with a menu using the freshest fish and meat of the season with strong focus on local produce. Our chefs use predominanly local igredients of the highest quality and freshness. The Icelandic fish is one of the world’s best ingredients and we make the best out of it. Also you can find goumet lamb, a wide range of bread and home baked cakes. Indulge in delicious ice cream in homemade waffles and freshly grounded coffee from Illy. The restaurant is designed by Leifur Welding and isinspired by the Icelandic nature and Icelandic design. Sigurdur Greipsson, the family ancestor was a famous Icelandic wrestler “glímukappi” and in his honour the restaurant also introduces the only national sport that Iceland has “glíma”. Among other things is “Grettisbeltið” for display, the most famous historical treasure in the whole Icelandic sports history and also the oldest. The restaurant is opened everyday.

In fact, some food was not available that day (including all sandwiches). So I personally ordered the French fries for just under 900 Icelandic kroner (a little over 6 euros) and my two companions ordered the Pizza Margherita for almost 3000 Icelandic kroner. The pizza was very large and is definitely enough for 2 people. The French fries were a bit too salty for me, but crispy and served with ketchup. Overall, all the other guests from the tour told me that the food is quite decent, you should not expect a feast for the palate here. The toilets were at least clean, so you can say that the restaurant is suitable as a quick snack at a bus stop.

We stopped for lunch across from the Thermal Field. There were several buses there also, so the restaurant and the thermal area were quite packed. The food in the restaurant and the ice cream OK, but the place was way under-staffed. The cooks, servers and cashiers were working hard to keep people happy, but the wait for cooked food and even ice cream were considerable. Once served, everything was fine.

We're used to tourist traps offering fast food or other unappetizing food when there is no competition to force them to raise the quality of their offerings, This was NOT the case at Geysir Glima restaurant, located in the visitors' center of the local geyser site. The food here was wonderful, and a highlight of our entire trip -- beautiful and plentiful fish and chips that were cooked perfectly and were filling enough to keep us going for the full day. Not inexpensive ... 2 servings plus coffee, a Coke, and a piece of "Millionaire's Pie" chocolate torte cost about $65 USD ... but we agreed that if this was closer to our hotel location, we would have eaten there again!

I stopped by for a light lunch. Decided on a lava sandwich with salmon. The bread was impossible to cut or bite because it was so tough. Under the upper part was almost a whole egg in slices, not accounted for in the description of the sandwich. And I hate eggs.
I had to have my coffee made two times, because the waiter lost track of what type of milk I had asked for.
I had to ask for forks, only spoons and forks were available.
Music was both bad and far too loud.
Hand alcohol container was empty when leaving the place.

Some of the worst service I’ve ever experienced, anywhere. We ate early (5pm) and the restaurant only had about six tables of guests. Once we ordered our dinner and it was delivered our waiter disappeared and none of the other half-dozen employees walking by ever made a gesture to refill water, clear dishes, or take dessert order until we physically asked them for help. We were sitting at a table close to the kitchen & bar, so anyone making a passing glance should have seen that we were finished with our meal. It was over 50 minutes of sitting with empty plates in front of us.
The atmosphere was beautiful & clean and the food was very good, nothing spectacular.

Feeling peckish during our golden circle tour I made our off road Mercedes mini bus driver divert our tour into this facility. As I was beginning to feel weak I instructed the PA to get me a chicken and fig sandwich while I went and sat down, it was at this point that it became clear something was amiss. The PA came over with a concerned look on his face after he had seen the prices, I couldn't agree more with him, with prices this cheap we'd look poor if we didn't indulge. While the PA went back to pay for our feast I threw away the packed lunch the PA had prepared for us as we were going for a full 3 courses. Once full and satisfied I went on a spending spree in the 66'N store next door which was also incredibly good value, I also saw a wooden train that would be perfect for young Isambard but was told it wasn't for sale. Apart from that I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at this service station and would recommend. The PA and I then returned to our tour and the PA informed the driver no further comfort stops would be needed.

Our tour guide suggested to try the lamb but we opted for the fried cod it came with yellow rice, and sautéed carrots and potatoes. We did not expect much but it was delicious. The service was efficient and friendly. Although it was crowded and busy, there were many vacant tables. The places had lots of drinks to choose from. It had a spacious shopping area, too. The rest rooms were clean.

The restaurant was part of a larger tourist destination that had clothes and convenience stores, the restaurant itself had a wide range of hot and cold food and soups.
The atmosphere felt a bit like a canteen and there were long queues. I ordered the meat soup and a sample platter. In hindsight, I think the sample platter could've been for sharing because there was way too much food for me. This really made up for the meat soup which was a bit watery and only had a few scraps of meat.

As part of our NiceTravel tour we stopped at the Geysir and had a lunch break just over the road at this coffeehouse/restaurant. There was a nice selection of sandwiches as well as toasted sandwiches and soups, couple this with cakes and a selection of drinks and there's something for everyone.
As with pretty much anywhere in Iceland you pay a premium so this is nothing out of the ordinary. The lunch as a whole was pretty good for a roadside diner and no hesitation in recommending it.

What a mess. There is what looks like a hot serving line, a coffee bar, and a counter with sandwiches and nobody seemed to know what was served where and where to order or pay. I ended up with a sandwich which was half a sandwich and not good at all with hard stale bread. It would be better to leave hungry than eat here.

The coffee and pastries were fine - nothing extraordinary but nothing negative to say about them. But the key piece to share here is the outrageous amount of time it takes to get anything. It's not just the quantity of tourists. The service seems to take five minutes per person in line. Real time breakdown: coffee line with seven people took over 30 minutes. Nice people though.

Arrived at Geysir on a 10 hour day trip as a lunch stop, had 45 minutes to see the springs and get something to eat. After seeing the springs thought we’d go in to get something quick, asked the the guy behind the counter how long for pizza, he said maximum 10 minutes. 25 minutes later still no pizza, refused to refund me, and still no pizza. was 7.000kr that’s roughly £42 just lost. Staff are rude, and very unhelpful. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND if in a rush.

Our tour bus stopped here for lunch. The price of the food is outrageous and not well displayed. I had lamb soup in a paper cup, bottle of coke and fish and chips in a paper container. My husband had fish and chips only. The cost was about $75 or (exactly 10820 kroner)
The soup was luke warm (I bought it because I was cold, so that was a waste). The fish and chips were good, but nowhere came close to justifying the cost.
The restaurant is bare bone and extremely busy, but we were served fairly quickly as the food is self serve and already sitting out, rather than having to wait for your order.
It would make sense to ask your operator where they plan to stop for lunch, or pack a snack rather than let these people rip you off.

Good selection of food but the food from the buffet was cold (although fairly tasty). Quite a confusing way of doing things we thought - different food and drink stations but no one central station to pay and get drinks at the same time. The pizzas we saw other people having looked really good!

Brilliant place to go to after walking from Geysir. This is a place to get something good to eat or drink some delicious hot chocolate. Lots of choices and right across the street from the geyser. We tried both pizza and fish soup. The fish soup was delicious , pizza also very good. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Great spot to warm up after checking out the geothermal fields.
