The Geysir Center's main advantage may be its close proximity to the Geysir Geothermal area (Strokkur and Great Geysir) that is visited on many "Golden Circle" tours. The center is large with restrooms, souvenir shops, and restaurants. We ate a relatively well-priced and decent meal at the Kantina (fast food style restaurant with seating outside the Kantina, but still inside the building). The Strokkur geyser is just a short walk away from the Geysir Center and there is a large parking lot immediately next to the Geysir Center.

Our tour stopped for Lunch here and the ‘Geysir Center’ was very accommodating. There was a choice of around four restaurants here, all offering different meal types to suit each visitors needs. The place was very busy, expectedly so due to the popularity of the area. We passed a man who said ‘get the Lamb’, so three of us opted for the modified ‘Roast Dinner’ which was excellent. The Lamb was cooked perfectly. Prices were expensive but in all honesty, you are in the middle of nowhere so you just have to suck it up and pay. A couple of points to note - be careful with the road, it’s very traffic heavy and pedestrians are crossing it everywhere. Also, buy the Pilsner Beer with your meal - it’s a good three times cheaper than anything else and actually tastes pretty good!

The Geysir centre is a large complex of souvenir sales areas that includes 3 different restaurants. You can chose between a sandwich bar, a soup kitchen or a restaurant, depending on your taste and hunger. All very clean and scandinavian style. Good choice of dishes, cakes and lager, as well as lovely soup. It is only a short walk from the geysir and offers a great place to get warm and for some refreshment.

As I am accustomed to American tourist sites having pretty limited and bland concession options, the Geysir Center was a pleasant surprise. I had the fish stew, which was delicious and filling after a long morning and afternoon of sightseeing. My husband had the meat stew, which was also tasty, but not quite as filling. Our 11-year-old dubbed the mozzarella sticks the best he'd ever had, and the person who took our order was very nice about arranging for a red dipping sauce for the sticks. Definitely busy and a bit of a wait, but no more so than concessions at an American museum or amusement park, and the food was leagues better.

We had a quick bite at the Geysir Center. What a mistake! The grill/soup section had no prices posted. We two got soup and a roll each (no drink) and it was about $38 dollars—making Reykjavik prices look affordable. The soup and roll were nice, but the cost left a bitter taste in my mouth. Do not eat there.

We were quite impressed by the quality of the food and experience at the Geysir Center for lunch. There are limited choices so you might assume that a captive audience would have little choice. However, we very much enjoyed the food at the cafe and was pleasantly surprised by the overall quality.

The cafe is very expensive for what it is, a complete tourist trap really. We got a soup, salad, one portion of fish & chips and 2 bottles of Coke and it was 10,000kr or about £60! The gift shop is expansive and looked to have some good quality products but we didn’t buy following the lunch rip-off.

The restaurant is modern and comfy, service is top notch. The Bacalao Carpaccio is tasty and delicious, the first experience for us. Wow factor. The Cod fish in Langustine sauce lack seasoning, pretty flat to our liking. The lamb done to perfection, balance flavour with beautiful pumpkin puree. We also tried their famous Geysir bread, more like Xmas pudding for us.

Whilst we were driving around the Golden Circle circuit in Southern Iceland we stopped off at Geysir Geothermal Park, one of the highlights of the route. Before we explored the hot springs of Geysir we had a small brunch at the visitor centre, there was a wide range of meal options available as well as snacks. Within the centre there were two distinct areas, a full restaurant area as well a smaller pit stop area which is where we settled until we thawed out. There was also souvenir shop within the complex. It is a very well equipped centre and an ideal place to freshen up whilst on the Golden Circle circuit.

People that come here are commonly on tours. As prepared travellers we bought packed lunches. However, there is no room to eat in this establishment. They only allow you to sit down if you buy their overpriced, disgusting looking food. Would recommend sitting on your bus and not wasting your time. Toilets were vile too. Staff were just as bad. SHOCKED AND DISGUSTED.

Had the most amazing wild mushroom soup that I’ve ever had and can’t stop thinking about it but for 2 small soups, 2 tiny bread rolls and 2 small tins of Pringles it was the equivalent of £35. My other half had the meat soup but didn’t rate it. I would go back for the mushroom soup whereas he was devastated at what we got for the price. This was the only place in Iceland that we were shocked at the high prices but we were in the middle or nowhere. I can’t stress how amazing the mushroom soup was though!

The Geysir Center was the designated 'lunch stop' on our Golden Circle coach tour. We had packed our lunch before we came and entered an open area at the front of the building with picnic tables/benches. We picked an empty table and sat down and proceeded to get our sandwiches out. Within seconds a man appeared and said 'don't get your picnic out, this is a restaurant'. There was no signage to this effect when we came through the door and the two areas, the one where we were sat and the other end of the hall seemed to be clearly for different purposes and our end not part of any restaurant. There was a man sat across from us who heard the commotion eating his homemade sandwiches who just shrugged his shoulders and plenty of people just sat drinking there own water from their own bottles. Whilst we were sat another family with children came in and laid there picnic out on one of the tables and weren't bothered by anyone at all. These made us feel targeted. One of our party has allergies so needs to be extremely careful when eating out and prefers to bring their own food but was not given the opportunity to explain this as the man had stormed off. We were going to buy drinks to go with our lunch but after encountering such rudeness were totally put off. When we left we did notice a tiny, postage stamp sized sticker on the napkin dispenser on the next table (ours didn't have one) saying no own food or drink to be consumed. This clearly indicates they have a huge issue with this generally , so instead of creating an area where people can eat their own food they prefer to ostracise people that need to bring their own food. The only option we had was to stand awkwardly in front of the door outside and eat our sandwiches hurriedly in the rain before we got back on the coach.

The centre has a large souvenir shop and a cafe. We were happy with the food we got in the cafe, but a bit disappointed that they close at 6 pm in the summer. We were lucky enough to get extra large portions because we were last. Both the fish and chips and burger was good, especially for being ready made. We would have liked a little more to chose from, but we understand that it's hard to do in the busiest season. The decor is a little dated, but we had a choice of sitting on a bench or chair without armrests which we appreciated (restaurants don't always have seating for larger people) The staff were very helpful and we appreciated them letting us know that they were closing so we could buy something for the people in our group who were still outside before they closed. The geysir is so much fun to watch! Nature is amazing.

I hate to complain and genuinely love Iceland, I know it can be pricey here, but that doesn’t bother me when spending on good quality. But I can’t believe I have just been charged £15 for cold tasteless mushroom soup in a paper cup. More fool me for paying it I agree. Absolutely disgusted by the price. Such a step too far. Totally overpriced. The soup itself tasteless and tepidly warm at best. Service was shocking too, the guy was on his mobile serving us. Totally taking advantage of a Tourist trap. Take a packed lunch if you’re going. The geyser was great 😊

This is a bustling, busy food court and souvenir shop (which I didn't visit) with overpriced food (soup, salad, burgers), drinks, and dessert (donuts and cake slices). A tourist trap because there's nowhere else to eat except the fancy-schmancy restaurant but reservations are required there. I paid $23 for over fried fish and frozen chips but it's my fault for not bringing my lunch and thinking there would be decent food to purchase/eat.
