The waiter (owner) was very nice and spoke English. He gave us a small bite while we looked over the menu. He suggest a wine to start our meal that was local and delicious. We ordered this appetizer on a whim and he explained the...history behind it and how they made it. It was delicious and I would get it again I was pleasantly surprised. I got the lamb and it was cooked perfectly but I fell in love with the vegetables. Look I am not usually a veggie lover but these were next level delicious. My husband liked his steak and said it was cooked perfectly. He also suggested a red wine for our meal that paired well. For dessert we had tiramisu but this was not what we expected. It had an amaretto taste to it which I wasn’t expecting not bad but I wouldn’t call it traditional. Overall it was a great meal with great service and I would definitely suggest it for a date night but I did see families there.More

We tried orzotto and frisco. It was my first time trying each fish. I found the orzotto to be heavy with its barley base but I really enjoyed it. The frisco came with polenta and I found the taste of the frisco to be reminiscent...of the Greek saganaki without the alcohol, fire or anyone yelling “Opa!”More

A couple of years ago the restaurant got a new wind and the management put local food and wine at the center of the offering. Genuine courses with a well selected wine cellar make your day. No hesitation, if you are in the vicinity, take...the ride to the Trattoria Alla CasaSola, you will not regret the gastronomic experience.More

more or less on a whim our 14 person party made reservations after arriving for our first night in Paffabro, right down the road. Since 8 in our party were kids, we knew we needed a flexible menu to satisfy everyone. We called ahead and...went to Alla Casasola and loved every second of our dining experience. The owners are Romanian transplants who have since become Italian citizens. He is the front of the house and she is the amazing chef who puts her own bold twists on the classic dishes. We sat down after being gleefully welcomed at the door, with a beautiful glass of local red sparkling wine whose grapes were nearly extinct only a few short years ago. We then enjoyed some fresh cured meats which we learned were secured from the local butcher who is literally right across the street. Next course was a delightful array of pickled vegetables and more sparkling wine. Finally we ordered our meals and dinner wines (as you can guess, all local) and despite some translation issues, were completely satisfying and originally created by the chef. For instance, the beef carpaccio, which anyone can throw on a plate was actually smoked and delicious and probably the best thing I have ever tasted. The eggplant pancake was actually a mini pot pie filled with cheesy goodness. It was lovely and my wife was completely mesmerized by it. The kids main courses were more than the average. They had homemade pasta with an amazing meat sauce, baby rib eyes, etc.....essentially miniature adult courses. They were treated as adults, were offered a taste of the wines (the older ones) and were so involved in the stories behind the different dishes, that they forget to be obnoxious, and to a person, acted as grown ups for the entire two hour experience. My six year old was literally asking technical cooking questions during the entire meal. They were treated with respect, as adults, and responded in kind. It was actually amazing to witness. The food was simply wonderful, created by an expert, from restaurant owners who have tremendous pride and passion for their community, its local bounty, and their own inventiveness and ingenuity. It was truly a fun, delicious, and entertaining first night of vacation in the eastern mountains of Northern Italy. No desserts, way too full to even consider but they are all made from scratch in house and apparently incredible. GO!!More

I couldn't believe food could taste this good. I could eat my weight in the gnocchi. Must come back.

The natives of Maniago are very fortunate to have this lovely restaurant in their locality. We were delighted to have had the opportunity to dine there with our family, who live locally and treated us to dinner. The proprietors are a husband and wife team...who know their stuff. The menu was diverse, interesting and most importantly delicious and each course was expertly paired with wine. The service was friendly and efficient and every dish and wine pairing was explained to us. I’m already looking forward to a return visit, as this is well worth a trip and apparently the menu changes regularly to take advantage of seasonal ingredients.More
