Decent portions, Italian taste, kind service. I strongly recommend. Even though it was our first and not planned visit, we were treated as regular local guests.

wonderful prosciutto of San Daniele, 24 or 36 months old! what a wonderful experience for my taste! Also san daniele pasta worth it!
Recommended by a local from the town, we came to Al Dolcenero for dinner and were more than happy. The food was amazing and had typical San Daniele prosciutto.
The decor in the restaurant is quirky, very modern with antique items of machinery dotted around, interesting and unexpected. A group of 12 of us visited the restaurant on a Monday evening and decided it would be easier to have the tasting menu rather than...individual dishes. We weren't disappointed! Bread and breadsticks were served in brown paper bags (nice touch) then the sharing platters started arriving - pickled vegetables, the perfect famous prosciutto di San Daniele (of various ages), more cold meats, cheeses served with honey and pear chutney, mortadella - too many things to list! Impossible to pick a favourite, everything was delicious. The desserts were really good too. Staff were all friendly, service was polite, unobtrusive, and nicely paced. I can't comment on whether this is the best restaurant in San Daniele as i haven't tried any others but I would certainly strongly recommend Al Dolcenero.More
This, of course, in my not so humble opinion. You can see that I have reviewed restaurants all over the world and that I love good food. And maybe here in Friuli, for all I know, it is traditional to overpower a dish with oregano....But for me it is disgusting and I could not eat the spaghetti that supposedly had a main ingredient of anchovie and then tomato and then olives and then capers and then oregano. I tasted no anchovy whatsoever. Oregano was by far the main ingredient. The 36 month old prosciutto was excellent but no better than the 18-month-old prosciutto we had at three other places here. The green salad was acceptable. I ordered a half liter of wine and they brought me a quarter liter. We called it quits and left. Hope you have better luck. The portions are large if that is important to you.More
Thank you so much for tasty food! I come back to Al Dolcenero second year! Fresh and tasty food, stuff is friendly, kind and professional ! The most nice surprise was, that I could have contact with kitchen chief and he can explained about Italy food traditions!
The environment is beautiful, the service is awesome. We took prosciutto seasoned 24 months and 36. The last one was pretty good but I'm sure in San Daniele I can find a better one. Burrata was amazing but focaccia was Average. What disappointed the most...was the main course. I took pasta with prosciutto crudo and my wife with trout. They were with full of cream and you couldn't enjoy the real flavour. Imho it is unacceptable in Italy in 2016 to put cream inside pasta. It was really hard to finish the plate because its heaviness. I gave 3 stars but the real vote is 3.5.More
We were inside by two dogs without an any problem at all. Quite modern interior but discrete and lovely to feel welcome from the beginning to the end. Very kind and professional stuff and we were pleased that chef also greet us. Food: delicious -...prosciutto, melting in your mouth is a must, all other dishes, vegetarian and non vegetarian were very tasty, fresh and prepared by touch. Salads are marvellous and big, fresh and seasonal. Excellent wine selection base on local wines. I recommend local Cabernet Sauvignon if you like red wine. Ask for local "grappa" at the end to fulfil the opus of your meal. We will definitely come back for foccacia and desserts.More

This is by far the best prosciutteria in San Daniele. It was literally the perfect meal. The prosciutto is silky and melts in your mouth. The cheese plates had the greatest variety and flavors of cheese and all of the side plates were the perfect...accompaniment to the meal. Save room for dessert as they do desserts right, too!More
