We planned to stop at Caltagirone to browse the ceramics on a drive from Agrigento to Catania. We pulled in at the top of the town around 2pm and most of the upper town was closed. We climbed down about 40 steps and in my...best hight school Italian, I asked "è aperto per pranzo?". Il Dito E la Luna was still open and was serving either a pasta or salad. We chose the pasta - a simple sauce with fresh basil and cheese and we were satisfied. BTW, not that I was counting, but the restaurant is about 95 steps up from town :)More

Half way up the stairs is the place to stop and rest and refresh. An exquisite Mediterranean salad of fresh fresh lettuces tomato and orange topped with Siciliano olive oil and and dollop of lemon granite. Heavenly. Excellent service in all languages from a family...of chefs and hospitable Sicilians. A highlight of our visit to pretty Caltagirone.More

Fabulous room and great breakfast. Really good value and great family team. We really enjoyed our stay here. Disappointed with Caltagirone - we found it quite dirty and not much to see. But that’s just our view

Family owned and delightful. We stayed one night. 2 story, bed, bath and balcony upstairs with pullout (very comfy) downstairs. Great WiFi, and a wonderful breakfast. We had a wide rage of sweet and plates of savory., fresh squeezed OJ, amazing coffee, a delightful attentive...service. I can’t say enough positive about this place.More

Excellent and respectful wait staff whose command of English was very good. Coffees were accompanied by a very well made ricotta cake.

Climbing the Staircase Of Maria Del Monte and half way up we found this absolute gem, extremely friendly staff and great hospitality, whoever selects the wine knows his or her stuff and the aperitifs were excellent. Lovely place and worth a stay.

While climbing the famous steps in Caltagirone, we did not expect to come across this gem of a place. We stopped, seeing the small picture perfect square and decided to have coffee, since it was around 4 pm. We had some wonderful pistachio based sweets...and biscuits which I have not seen in other places. Coffee was great. The owners were so friendly, the best hospitality I have seen in entire Europe. They have a B & B. We hope to come back to the lovely town of Caltagirone, exclusively to stay at this place!More

We had lunch at this small restaurant a coupe of weeks ago and were absolutely delighted. The place is small. The staff is wonderful. The food is delicious. What more can you say except the setting was charming. Clean. Limited menu based on what is...fresh each day. This is a family owned restaurant which is part of their B & B located half way up the famous stairs of Caltagirone. I recommend it highly. Loved it.More

Absolutely the best place to stay. You could not fault this gorgeous little B&B. Hosts Donatella & Giuseppe are the nicest people you could possibly meet and they go out of their way to make sure their guests are comfortable, well fed and feel at...home. The rooms are absolutely spotless, large and tastefully decorated. Breakfast is lavish and includes freshly squeezed orange juice as well as including cold meats & cheese, breads & jams, and pastries. Location is right in the centre of town on the famous Scala di Santa Maria del Monte, which is the only slight down side as you need to climb the steps to get there. Your hosts will also show you the back way to get in if you can't face walking up and down the steps every time ( still an uphill walk ... but hey that is Italian hill towns for you ).More

Delicious! Local pasta dishes particularly good. There's no menu, just fresh local ingredients available on the day.
