La Barrica, inaugurado en el verano de 2015, está ubicado en el centro de Potes, capital de la Liébana. Rodeado de un entorno natural increíble con vistas a los Picos de Europa, Torre del Infantado y el puente de San Cayetano. Cuenta con dos espacios bien diferenciados. En la parte superior se localiza la terraza, rodeada de un espectacular paisaje y en la parte baja se localiza el comedor, lugar acogedor e ideal para disfrutar de nuestra gastronomía Ofrecemos platos de comida tradicional con toques de modernidad, utilizando productos de la zona. Sat outside on the terrace as it was a hot evening.
We made the mistake of having what was referred to as a combination meal thinking it was a tapa like starter platter to share but was a full meal just with three things combined- eggs(fried), croquettes and fries - we had thought tapa croquettes, potato bravas and omelette pieces but hey our mistake.
Staff attentive and wine good.
My main was actually the house salad and I was a bit disappointed in it. Lots of lettuce and only 2 cherry tomatoes!!! My husband had seabass which he enjoyed although not filleted so a lot of bones to find !!!

On first arrival I asked the first person I saw about gluten free options and found out that most of the food available would be suitable. We then had a very helpful waitress who was knowledgeable about the food being served and was able to explain all the gluten free options available (and how they could adapt the traditional dish), including puddings. We had the traditional Cocido Lebaniego. The first part of the Cocido is a soup with fideos (type of noodle) and they even had gluten free fideos. This was prepared separately from the second person's portion. The main part of the Cocido is gluten free except for the "stuffing". However, as the waitress explained, in this restaurante the stuffing is not cooked with the dish and could be served in a separate container (so the other person eating could enjoy double the quantity!) so there was no cross contamination.

Definitley recommanded place, and we Will be back !! Friendly staff & amazing service. Every dish in the set menu was DELICIOUS. Nice range of flavours , we particulary enjoyed the Garlic Prawns and the meat was speechless !!!

Well, we did go there, but we didn't eat there. Let me explain, We are staying in Spain for two weeks in a very small village 20 km north of Potes, where the restaurant La Barrica de Potes is located. I tried to call and make a reservation, but there was no phone number on any websites dealing with them. I wrote an email, all in Spanish asking for a reservation for that afternoon. They responded quickly saying that they make no reservations online or by telephone. They only take reservations if you personally go to the restaurant, which we did that afternoon. We arrived about 1:30 pm and saw many empty tables and asked if we could make a reservation for that day. They asked if we had a reservation, I told them I tried calling and writing but was told we had to come personally which we were doing. They asked when we wanted to the reservation, we said that day. They simply laughed at us and although my Spanish is far from perfect he said samething about three months. We tried another restaurant next door but nothing was available. My recommendation? If you want a table at a well-known restaurant in Potes during the summer, make sure you have a reservation far in advance. How do you do that? Good luck, I wish I knew. Today we are going to a local restaurant only 1 km away. I'll let you know what that is like.

Buenas Lindas, lamentamos que no pudieras comer en nuestro restaurante. Que sepas que nuestros compañeros son muy profesionales y no se ríen de nadie, suponemos que al no poder comer ustedes se enfadarán con lo que es normal y de respetar. Aunque viese mesas vacías eso no quería decir que no estuvieran reservadas que lo estaban ya que lo hicieron otros clientes acudiendo antes al restaurante.

We loved this restaurant, and wished we were able to stay more nights to return again. We reserved a table, and were glad we did because we got to sit with a terrific view of the river, bridges, and town, and the restaurant quickly filled up. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. My zamburinas (scallops) were fresh and perfectly prepared. We had excellent Ribera del Duero wine by the glass, and couldn't believe a glass was only 3 Euros. The wait staff was helpful, friendly, and professional. Thank you for a lovely evening!

This restaurant is situated right by the river and an overlook of the old town. It's an absolute gorgeous view if you get to sit by the window. We showed up without reservation, although we did not get to sit by the window to enjoy the view, the service that was provided by Andrei was wonderful and we absolutely enjoyed our dinner. His sense of humor did make our evening more fun. At the end of dinner, boyfriend left his sun glasses behind at the table and we went home. We came back the next day and Andrei had them ready for us, he was all worried that he couldn't contact us so that he could return the glasses. Love how kind and honest he is!

We were only one night in Potes and have been so lucky that we picked this restaurant. The service was excellent. We felt very welcome. The food tasted awesome and the dishes were nicely decorated. The pulpo with the garlic ice-cream is amazing. This family runned restaurant still takes proud to make happy customers. You can feel the love they put into everything they do. And you get all of this at a very good price/quality ratio.

The terrace offers beautiful views of lovely Potes and sets the tone for an outstanding experience. The staff are friendly, happy and efficient. The food is of excellent quality. We shared 3 starters and a desert. Every dish was cooked to perfection and tasted sublime - we couldn’t fault anything.

We ate lunch inside here whilst on a brief stay in Potes. Service was very friendly and attentive. I had cod in tomato sauce which was simple but delicious and beautifully cooked. My husband had Bonito which was lovely too. Tiramisu and chocolate tort for pud - both very good. Washed down with a very reasonable glass of Albariño.

Beautiful location with fab views of the old town. Service very friendly and helpful. We had plates of excellent jamón serrano and mixed cheeses. Then had little lamb chops and the solomillo de ternera. All really good quality and perfectly cooked and presented. So happy with it all we are going back next week. Not cheap but not too expensive either. Well worth a visit. Recommend you book beforehand.

Excellent view, excellent service, host very friendly and accommodating. Food was great- large portions so they advised us against over ordering (which we appreciate!). We did need to book in advance!
