We're semi-regular visitors to The Boat and our last visit was perhaps the best yet. Wonderful Sunday lunch with attentive and pleasant staff. They've really upped their game in recent months making it one of the best places to visit for food in the region....Just a shame about the anti-Welsh / Welsh government diatribe on their website. Uncalled for, when independent reviews have recognised that Wales has the most positive outcomes out of all the home countries during that terrible covid period.More

We booked lunch to celebrate our anniversary. Wonderful place. Lovely atmosphere. The staff were friendly and efficient. I had stated we were vegetarian and our menus had been marked with what was suitable for us. Food was lovely and well presented. Izzy couldn't have been...more helpful. My husband says he will be back just to try the cheese board as a main course as he was too full to try it this time!More

I might have said this previously, 'we love this place'!! From the warmest of welcomes from the lovely Alex, to the quality of service, food and staff. 27th Wedding Anniversary meal out, opted for a Steak burger which was really nice, the better half opted...for the vegetable curry, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Beautiful riverside setting on the Dee, which was buzzing tonight. Keep up the good work, see you again very soon.More

One of our favourite places locally for Sunday lunch/dinner. The food is always delicious, and we love trying different menu items. This week I tried the pork cheek starter as recommended by one of their amazing friendly staff and it was so so good. You...won’t find a better location to eat and drink, than this beautiful riverside restaurant.More

Absolutely loved our visit to The Boat. The weather was good so we opted to sit outside overlooking the Dee. There can’t be many pubs with such a beautiful view. We could not fault the food or the service. We were made to feel very...welcome and all staff were efficient, hard working and very friendly. We’re not local but can’t wait to visit again.More

Second time of visiting and opinion hasn’t changed. Setting is amazing I can’t lie but staff were rude, food was expensive for what it was. Small portions. To be honest, I could have got a meal a a local carvery just as nice, with a bigger...portion and half the price.More

Genuinely don’t know what to say, except that this doesn’t sound like the pub i know, love and am very proud of. So sorry that we are such a disappointment from your perspective.

We went here on a day out around Wrexham . Staff were very good. Sat outside with a pint of Warsteiner and after a brief river walk we ate the wild boar hotdog and classic burger. Would definitely return and have a full on lunch.

THE best pub in the UK , amazing position by the river with a backdrop of a lovely church steeped in history Staff are always very friendly and always busy , service is quick and efficient The pub is dog friendly and the staff always...ask if they want water The food ,, we ( on this occasion ) just had a snack , the pigs cheek with leeks and an amazing crispy kale in sauce , chicken wings with chillies , had some fries as well , service very quick , staff always available not like other ( near ) pubs Ok a tad expensive but I’d rather pay a couple pounds extra to have food 10 times the quality Superb pub , food , staff , just a shame they don’t allow motorhome stopovers or we would be here all the timeMore

We came across the Boat on Google, saw the location and fabulous pictures and tried to book online (unfortunately the restaurant was not taking any more bookings on a busy Friday night). We thought lets drive down and chance it....Upon our arrival we were greeted...by a very friendly barman who notified us they were not taking walk ins last time he heard but would do his best. He did manage to get us a table and we settled down with a nice beer and large glass of wine. I must say the food and service was outstanding and it's not often I can say that these days. I don't know who is doing the hiring or training but it's incredibly well run. Staff were incredibly attentive considering how busy they were and the food was divine, we both wished this was our local as we would most certainly be regulars. Can't wait to come back.More
