Driven through the village a number of times and cannot believe I missed this place.
A real gem. The staff were great. Really attentive and made sure to understand what I liked and disliked (vegetarian)
The food was excellent and reasonably priced. My wife had a Mongolian stew (never had anything like this before) and I had a Caesar salad and frites.
Unusually we had deserts. A tiramisu meringue creation and I went for the crème brûlée. Excellent. Sorry - no pictures as have deleted them.
Definitely going back!

The inn is old (6 centuries) and we appreciate the large beam and the large fireplace.
We chose the menu at 15€90, but the menu offers a nice assortment of Parthenaise meat.
I enjoyed the original pork spring rolls, fish & chips and chocolate mousse, really good quality for the price.
As for wine, discover a delicious, soft Côte de Gascogne: Uby n°4.
Efficient and friendly service.
To do again and to recommend (remember to reserve because it quickly sells out).

Very pleasant setting, atmosphere and welcome. The inn offers a very affordable and copious lunch menu and a perfect menu to delight our taste buds. Tapas evening and small concerts not to be missed either.

Very friendly staff. Typical Hostel setting. Weekly lunch menu at 15.50 for starter, main course and dessert. very fresh and seasonal dishes with a good presentation. Local draft beer recommended at less than 3 €

We have dinner on the terrace, very charming place, with a team as pleasant as possible, without forgetting the meal, a real delight! With quality products, prepared with great taste, a treat!! And the budget is very affordable.

in a small and typical French village a young couple runs this ancient auberge from the 16th century. Friendly and family atmosphere. Fair prices. It's worth going out of Fontanay for dinner.

Adorable inn well in its “deep France” juice where you can soak up the local atmosphere. Generous, excellent menus with local products and cooked with finesse. Very pleasant staff and very attentive. An address that we highly recommend.

Fantastic little place. We went for lunch today. Food gorgeous and well cooked. Prices very reasonable. Despite our poor french, they were very helpful, the service and friendliness were exceptional. It is a 30 minute walk from where we are staying and our dog was alllowed inside. We are going back tomorrow evening for drinks and tapas.
Would highly recommend.

At a loss as to what to do on a rainy day in France we came to tripadvisor to find somewhere for lunch. We are keen on visiting anywhere that locals use so thought we'd give this place a try. It was great. We were welcomed with a warm hand shake and shown to table. We were served melon and parma ham, turkey escalope with ratatouille, local cheeses. ice cream and sorbet. A litre of perfectly good red wine was on the table and as much bread as you would like. Great coffee to follow. All for 12 euro 50. There was no menu therefore no choice however we are not at all fussy so were happy with whatever we had been given. The lady was very pleasant and spoke very little english but put up with my schoolgirl french and we got along okay. A real find in a very pretty little village.
