Visited this restaurant with recommendation by locals. The dishes are fantastic, original and well prepared. My choice was carpaccio made from cow's tongue and as main course quaile stuffed with chianina mince meat and raisins. The service is very attentive. Good choice of wines, although...More

A pity we were only staying a night in San Quirico because we would have liked to have gone back to this restaurant to try out more of their specialities. Fantastic the crostini with fresh marinated anchoves and pesto, sublime the wafer thin slices of...More

The Fonte alla Vena Inn is a warm and welcoming restaurant in an ancient building of historical importance which has recently been renovated. It is on the Cassia Road, close to the village of San Quirico d'Orcia close to Montalcino , Motepulciano and only 4 km from Bagno Vignoni well known for its hot springs The restaurant used to be an inn where " knights" would stop to eat, drink, sleep and let their horses drink. The building in front of the inn was a furnace where the famous Chigean pottery was baked. This has lent its name to the restaurant. The restaurant is run by owner Luciano who give the guests a warm and friendly welcome. At the end of the meal, guests are invited to leave their comments and suggestions in the guest book, which will be used to continually improve the quality of the restaurant.
