Athanasiou waterfront cafe (Navarinou str.) with delicious sweets, food, and coffee and great outdoor seating in Kalamata. My husband and I go there very often and love the place. Super friendly service, delicious Sunday morning breakfast. Best omelets and sweets and divine cappuccino. Dimitris and...Maria are especially nice and super friendly and they know exactly what we want. Dimitris one of the best and the most awarded barista knows everything about coffee and serves the best espresso and cappuccino in the world while Maria, always smiling, serves the best sweets by far and the best omelette and poached eggs with avocado and salmon ever!!! Maria and Dimitris always cheer us up with amazing food, sweets and coffee. We’ve gone out of our way to go to this cafe multiple times a week because the people are amazing. The staff is friendly and kind and really know hospitality!! Highly recommended! Don’t miss out if you are on a stay in Kalamata. You can confidently expect great food and coffee in addition to the wonderful hospitable experience.More

We go there often and love the place! It has lovely service, good coffee and breakfast choices. Love that they have almond and/or soy milk options, it’s not very common here.

Myself and my husband are in Kalamata on a cycling holiday. We’ve been to Athanasiou on a couple of occasions for breakfast. Pancakes with banana, honey and cinnamon are lovely and really set us up for riding. Us cyclists also need out cake, and they...certainly know how to do cake! Ferraro cake is to die for! And we’ve also enjoyed the orange pie and red velvet. Staff have been lovely and friendly too. A definite place to visit!More

Passing through Kalamata twice mid September stopped here for coffee and snacks. Relaxed atmosphere with a view of the harbour and few people around, very friendly service (as it was a hot day both times, my dog was served water right away without my asking),...coffee, fresh juice, desserts were all excellent.More

I believe that there you will find the best dessert options, prices are good, service is a bit slow. All in all, worth visiting

Fortunately, our friends came to visit and brought some goodies from Athanasiou, I had just watched, Jim Jefferies talking about American chocolate being just 10% coco in them. These chocolates are out of heaven, I bet way more coco in them then any other chocolates....I had some in London, Belgium, Holland & Germany, but these are very nice and great. Only the chocolate factory of Pelit in Istanbul got closer, but not there. These were really good. Everybody loved them and finished in few hours.More

If I lived in Greece instead of visiting i’d be as big as a mountain because i’d Go to Athanasiou every day. They produce the most divine baked goods and other sweeties. Their displays are fantastic during the holidays. They also offer simple sandwiches at...the bakery we go to most often, but there are two other branches in Kalamata and one of them serves a variety of tasty meals. We can’t recommend Athanasiou enough - if you’re in the Kalamata area it’s worth going out of your way for any of their special treats.More

Athanassiou is a small factory of sweets. Not a candy shop. Beautifully presented and artfully prepared, this place offers any and every form of pastry, sweet, ice-cream and chocolate one can think of. A feast.
