We were looking for a place to eat something on a Sunday night, when we found Tasquinha do Ilídio. We thought we were lucky because everything else was closed. So we enter thinking we would eat a sandwich or something similar...and for our great surprise, we had one of the best barbecue’s ever! Excellent meat, very well grilled, with a fantastic salad and some homemade fries! We loved it! While eating we realize that besides being an excellent “grilled”, Mr. Ilídio was also famous for his “ensopado de enguias” (a kind of eels stew with bread), so we return the next day for dinner the ensopado... excellent also!
Don’t let the small unsophisticated space deceive you. We will return!

Not much like a restaurant but like a "tasca".
The speciality is grilled food which is done outside next to us so we can see it.
The French fries were oily but the salad was good.
The owners, are not able to attend more than three or four tables at the same time, after that they tell you that you have to wait for long and they don't care of the new people coming.
Unlucky for was that the place was full for dinner and nobody cared at us so we almost had to beg to be served.
I believe the treatment might be different when it's not busy but for us it was absolutely disgraceful.
They forgot to take the orders for food and then also for drinks and it was impossible to get their attention. We had to grab the beverages from the refrigerator ourselves.
Nothing wrong with that but you need to very patient and willing to try an authentic local Alentejo’s not fancy experience.
At least it's very cheap and the meat was good.
Try it if you wish to know the real Portugal.

It has to be said that this is a tasca, not a restaurant. They have really good grilled pork, we had “lagartos” (one of the best I’ve ever had) and “cachaço” also well done. Bread and olives were really good. Now do not expect much from the French fries, they were oily, and the salad, normal Portuguese.
The owners, are not able to attend more than three or four tables at the same time. When somebody arrives after that number of tables, they will tell you that you will have to wait for long. She was running in and out and some customers decided to go and grab the beverages from the refrigerator so they didn’t have to wait more.
It can be an authentic Alentejo’s not fancy experience if you wish to know Portugal for real.
