A must for beef lovers

This is the second tonne we have been here and it didn't fail our first experience Our neighbor recommended we try it and I have to say it will be a regular for us. It's a little awkward to get to if you don't drive but only a walk from the centre of Castelnaudary. Situated on the duel carriage way it's not difficult to find and the fact that it looks like a windmill adds to its charm. It's centre piece is the huge open fire that the chef cooks all his meat on. For all to see. It's a visual feast as well. The service is warm and welcoming and the food it's very good. Fo give it a try. You will not be disappointed

An absolute must.

Le Moulin Vert has now become a regular must visit every time we are in Castel (which as as a second home owner here - quite frequent). We have discovered its a must to book or you run the risk of being dissapointed, even on the quietest of days. The staff are very attentive and welcoming, always happy to meet your needs. The food is amazing. Steaks all cooked before your very eyes by the chef and his assistant on a large open fire. The atmosphere is always fantastic and it lends itself to being cozy and warm in the winter and bright and airy in the Summer when you can sit in the more open spacious adjoining room. There is always outside if you prefer. I am already looking forward to my next visit. Never fails to deliver high quality, exceptional food.

Tasty cuisine!

Superb discovery! I have been passing this restaurant regularly for 10 years, but I have never had the opportunity to stop there. From the outside, the restaurant may not be eye-catching, but don't stop there. One lunchtime we finally chose to stop there to try the restaurant, before returning to Toulouse. It was a very beautiful and pleasant discovery. Warm, no-frills establishment. Homemade, family-style, tasty and generous cuisine is served there. We left the restaurant very happy, with our bellies very full :D We will come back !!!!!

a very nice discovery, we were delighted by the quality of the welcome, the dishes chosen were excellent and the service perfect. A word of advice: it is best to book on the weekend. We will come back to discover other dishes offered on the menu

A great and unexpected find

there were ten of us looking for dinner on the Thursday evening so we went in on Wednesday lunchtime to enquire only to find they had a private booking on the Thursday evening so we left disappointed. Then we decided as they were expected to be open at lunchtime Thursday we would go at 11.55 and try our luck. Our luck was in and we got a great table in the rear room which was lucky as the front room where the bar and BBQ is gets very warm especially on a 36 degree day which was our day. well the food was excellent as was everything. Not cheap but you have to pay for excellence. The Entrecote steak was perfect

What a fabulous dinner!

Don't let the location put you off (it's on the main road), the food here is wonderful. We all had steak and my niece had a prawn dish to start. The steak was perfectly cooked and delicious. The service was friendly and attentive, we managed in our high school French to be understood. We would happily have eaten here again if we had been staying longer.

A last minute decision when friends arrived to take them to lunch, somewhere they hadn’t been before so Le Moulin was an easy choice. We’ve eaten here several times before and was pleased to see the standards hadn’t dropped. The set menu was €18 for 3 courses, drinks extra. The starter was goats cheese and ham salad followed by steak with dauphinois potatoes and vegetables and the dessert, chocolate pudding with vanilla ice cream. Basic food but cooked well, homemade, good portions and great value. Excellent, friendly service.

Moulin Vert is a beautiful local resteraunt close to castelnaudary. A blazing fire greets you with meat cooked to order on the flames. A 3 course is very reasonable with a few options in price (23€ &€33) depending on what you wish. Exceptionally good food and atmosphere, a great place for a romantic meal or family get together.

Little Gem

Having lived near this restaurant for nearly 10 years we only discovered this restaurant via a friend last week. We had the plat du jour which consisted of a choice of starter, quiche with chicken and cepes or blue cheese salad. Main course was bavette of beef with sauteed potatoes and ratatouille and for dessert a choice of Tiramisu, Creme Brulee,Chocolate Mousse and Panacotta. Two glasses of wine an aperitif, tea and coffee, 50 euros. Portions were generous, service excellent and dog friendly. No complaints. Thanks

Still a great meal

We visited again, just to make sure it wasn't a "fluke" the first time! Its still an excellent meal and good value for money. Try lunch - they have a nice sunny patio where you can enjoy the fresh air.

Great food and excellet attitude!

Although this restaurant specialises in meat dishes, they were more than accommodating for one of our party who does not eat meat. Stephanie (our waitress) was charming and helpful - she speaks excellent English, having been an Au Pair in the UK, and we can't wait to return.
