An unpretentious place where the welcome is warm and the cuisine really made on site with good products, in fact the attendance is no mistake!! We took the 22€ menu with a Lauragais salad, the salad was fresh without damaged leaves (which is not always the case) with candied gizzards, slices of duck breast and a pretty decoration of carrots, tomatoes and orange. The cassoulet with confit duck leg and sausage was excellent and the beans perfect!! Dessert ended this meal perfectly, washed down with a Minervois cheese. I highly recommend this place whose home cooking delighted our taste buds for a very reasonable bill!!!

Germaine the boss very nice and very invested in her restaurant and who works mostly in cooking with love. Speciality cassoulet but also has a small choice of à la carte dishes. The restaurant has a discreet frontage on the street and the room is small with quite tight tables and has an antique decoration giving it a small typical family establishment off tourist trail. There were some good things about our meal here today but overall it was not a nice experience and we won’t be returning. From the beginning we did not feel at all welcome - the waitress was unsmiling and her body language suggested we were a nuisance. Service was prompt (the restaurant on a Tuesday lunchtime was otherwise empty) the food arriving before we had finished our aperitifs. The first course from the €22 fixed menu was a generous serving of goat’s cheese on fresh bread with a fresh salad. All ok so far, but for the main course I decided to be adventurous and chose the tripe in Armagnac sauce while my 2 companions had the steak. The steaks were cooked well and they both enjoyed them. However, my dish must have come straight from an extremely hot oven as I was unable to eat it at all for such a long time - each forkful had to be extracted from the sizzling dish and blown on for minutes before cautiously approaching it to my mouth, and even then I once had to spit it out. Now I normally would say I like hot food to be hot, but this was ridiculous!! Even when my companions had finished their steaks, my dish was still too hot to eat without caution, and at no point was I able to taste the Armagnac at all - I suspect it had long ago evaporated. We advised the waitress about the excessive heat but she did not seem at all interested or apologetic. Dessert was ok but very underwhelming (freezer taste to bland ice cream) and the waitress hovered nearby, willing us to leave which was unsettling. Despite this, they did not seem keen to take our money and after a long wait, my friend eventually had to go into the kitchen (where someone was having their hair cut!!!!) to find someone to give us the bill.

On the recommendation of our landlord, we spontaneously had a cassoulet as a menu, the best cassoulet we have ever eaten with a salad with duck breast and fried gésiers (chicken gizzards), delicious 😋 and dessert. Very family atmosphere, friendly landlady and service, very good value for money. We can recommend the restaurant without reservation and would be happy to come back when we are in Castelnaudary.

We had booked in advance, because given the success it is absolutely necessary. The cassoulet is killer, the best I have ever eaten and for unbeatable value for money. After our appalling experience in the big hotel the previous night e went to the other extreme.r. a small, mother and daughter run bistro type operation. Well, what a delight. Good food, lovely atmosphere and welcoming folk. Great cassoulet...but order it alone not in the three course menu. Either choose cassoulet or a regular menu....do not try to eat all! For personal reasons I chose a local Corbiere wine (excellent) so cannot comment on their pichet but I would, on a second visit, trust that. So, thanks you for a lovely evening and being so kind to my disabled wife.
