After our visit, we thought would return to eat here, as everything we had was pretty good. We stayed in Comillas for a week but we didn't actually return as nothing was outstanding and we enjoyed meals elsewhere. Good quality wines, reasonably priced.

As soon as we arrived they treated us with very bad manners. We were choosing a table, waiting for the table to be cleaned due to the coronavirus. We were embarrassed to see the waitress yelling at us without even sitting at the table. The...customer service was horrible, inadmissible. 22, August, 2020, at 17.30.More

The restaurant clearly has a local following which is always a good sign and by the time we left every table was take. Their specials for the evening were octopus which my wife loves and curried big prawns much like a langoustine. Both were excellent...in taste and beautifully presented. The kitchen had also deshelled the prawns for me to save burning and lacerating my fingers!! Our waitress was very much on the ball and spoke good english. Great ambiance and would definitely have liked another pass at the menu were we to be n Comillas for another night.More

They offered a small but excellent menu.We shared superb gambas a la planch washed down with a good bottle of Rioja. All the dishes that followed were well presented. We had our little dog with us so ate outside but the weather was a little...chilly but the helpful waiter happily moved us to a more sheltered table. Highly recommended.More

The queue was 40 minutes but it was worth it. I had the most excellent ox steak which was perfectly cooked. Service was warm and attentive. Price is a little above the usual. Would return.

We queued to go in before La Aldea opened so hoped for something good. We found the dishes disappointing - garlic prawns very plain, squid in its ink (a special!) was not especially well flavoured and comprised large, fairly rubbery pieces in lots of ink...with a mound of plain rice. The one good dish was the grilled scallops - they were very good. The service was fine even though they were very busy. We were just unimpressed with the food.More

We saved this restaurant for our last night (not least because it was closed on Sunday and Monday evening), but it proved to be an exceptional way to end our stay in Comillas. Our Spanish is non existent and so we were pleased to have...an English-speaking waitress to advise us on the menu, and we chose 3 dishes shared between the 2 of us (timbale of salmon with avocado, local cooked cheese with marmalades and, scallops). We then had 2 deserts which we also shared (lemon mousse and something Spanish similar to creme brûlée). From the moment the first course arrived we realised that this restaurant was going to be special - the quality of the food was superb and every aspect was first rate.More

A simple village restaurant with outdoor tables in a quiet street. It serves plain honest fare: but nothing special, based on my visit.

We strolled the town and saw the menu board outside the quaint old building that had just what we fancied. There seemed to people waiting for them to open well before 8.30 and luckily got there on time as within minutes most of the tables...upstairs were filled. Very friendly and helpful with a fantastic choice of seafood and specialities. Fresh home made Croquettas to die for and so many that one starter portion was ample for two. Sea food risotto and stuffed cuttlefish in its own ink were rich and delicious. She recommended an excellent Crianza Rioja that was slightly chilled and partnered all of our food perfectly. We noticed other beautifully created and presented dishes including a huge steak and many seafood varieties. The service was exemplary and our biggest surprise was how reasonable the bill was.More

My sweetheart and I were spending 4 days in Cantabria, along with my mother-in-law (who is a very cool and dedicated traveler). We had been up in Picos de Europa enjoying the cool of the mountains and some great hiking. On our last day, we...headed down the mountain, in part to be closer to the airport for our morning departure and (importantly) to see El Capricho de Gaudí, the beautiful mansion. So, a day of beauty and harmony required a lunch to match. La Aldea Comillas really satisfied that need and left us quite content and smiling (and full!). The restaurant is on a side street packed with other restaurants. When you travel, and see a whole line of restaurants in a row, it's hard to tell the tourist traps from the real thing. Fortunately, we did our research and found this place. There is outside seating and a nice larger room upstairs. As they don't take reservations, if you want an outside seat, you'll probably have to arrive early. We didn't arrive until 3pm, so ended up inside (which was nice, so no complaints). My sweetheart and I really wanted fish. My mother-in-law wanted beef and got a nice steak from local meat.More

We went to La Aldea for the good reviews we read here. When we arrived we had 11 reservations before us! We got in the list and came back an hour after... it was totally worth it. My wife had an amazing risotto and I...had the solomillo, it was exquisite. The staff were pretty kind to us and explained every doubt we had. If you go to Comillas you have to eat here, try to make a reservation before!More
