We popped in here for Saturday lunch last Saturday. We chose this place because the bar area is dog friendly. We had a very warm welcome, and whilst there isn’t a menu, we both really enjoyed our meals (steak pie for me, sausage, egg and chips for my wife). The food was really nicely prepared, and we also got a couple of sausages for the dog. We then had lovely homemade cheesecake and coffees to finish. The owners were really friendly and welcoming, and the bill was very reasonable. We’ll certainly go back if we’re down that way again.

It is advisable to book this restaurant, it is very popular. Not surprising really, the food was delicious and certainly plenty of it. We had the giant Yorkshire pudding filled with a delicious roast dinner. There is no actual menu here, they specialise in just the one meal per night, but it is very good value. There was however, a choice of the dessert. I had a caramel cheesecake my husband had the apple pie. Followed by a great cup of coffee. We were extremely full when we left, next time we will ask for a doggie bag for the pudding ! We will definitely return to this friendly and homely pub. Full marks.

Omg! You know when you go out for food and come away saying it was ok but i could have done better at home? Well this was better than home. I can cook but would have struggled to better this three course Sunday lunch. Mary- youre a gem! Lovely staff and three courses plus bottle of really nice Merlot for under £34. Give me no frills any day if as good as the Brig Inn 👍👍

My husband and I have been living in the Scottish Borders area and then Northern England for the last five years, and this is the absolute best we have found so far. With tasty, plentiful food, excellent service and warm atmosphere for a reasonable price, the Brig Inn exceeds all of our expectations! The food is always fresh and beautifully prepared by Mary, who I'm sure puts a bit of love into everything she makes. The beef they serve at Sunday lunch is the tastiest and most tender I've found so far, especially compared with some of the more posh inns, who tend to charge over the odds for a bit of tough rump roast. The Brig serve heaps of perfectly cooked, varied veg with the Sunday lunch. And the desserts are luscious - try the meringue or the strawberry slice. The decor isn't fancy, but it's warm and welcoming - and that's what we value. Diners have a beautiful view of the Annan river, and you can eat outside on the deck on those rare warm days. Ann and John are a lovely Northern Irish couple and their hospitality is from the heart. They go out of their way to make sure every customer feels pampered. When they found out I was gluten-free, Mary devised a GF cookie crust for a dessert that she makes especially for me. Anything you want or need, they'll bend over backward to please you. And the value for your pound is outstanding. Next we will be trying their Fri-Sat night specials - main entree, chips, veg & desert for £8.50. You can't beat that! A very enthusiastic 5 stars for the Brig Inn :D

The Brig is a typical rural pub, no frills and decent people.
We had a very tasty evening meal.
The food was all home made, good size portions and very tasty.
We will definitely return soon.
Thank you for great hospitality.

We visited here on our way out of scotland. The land lady, her partner and staff are lovely and very welcoming. Its a village boozer where you can get cheap drinks (pints about £3.50) and we ate fish, chips peas for about £7. Its a no frills pub so if you want cozy country pub, posh, or gastro pub food this isnt the pub for you. Food is served i believe 5-7pm on the night we visited. There isnt a menu to choose from just what ever the special of the day.
The place was spotlessly clean, like mentioned in other posts it is old fashioned but i suppose it depends what your looking for.
Overall i still think its nice to have old boozers available for a basic drink.

Once again on holiday in Annan we paid our usual visit to The Brig inn for Sunday lunch. This year due to staff holidays they were short handed but Ann rose to the occasion . She provided the usual first class meal -- even though She was working on her own... Not only a high class meal but good company as well-- friendly & ready with a smile ! Having just written a blistering one * report on a local pub perhaps Ann & Co should run a training school on how it should be done.....

Myself and the wife have stayed in a bothy about a 2 minute walk away from the Brig Inn twice now. What can I say.......hmm, staff all brilliant, Anne, John, Mary, Vikki and Adam cannot do enough for you, food is of the highest class though I'd suggest booking beforehand. Locals often make a pub and they certainly do here, never met more friendly folks in all my life, be back soon

We were staying in Annan and wanted a simple lunch, I looked on "Trip Advisor" and this had mixed reviews, so we decided to take a look.
We pulled up outside and looked at each other, the outside was a little dilapidated and we almost drove away, but we entered the place. I am so pleased we did, the landlady was so friendly, I wanted something with gravy, but it was Saturday and the roast dinners were served on Sundays, , nevertheless, the cook came out of the kitchen and said if I could tell her what I wanted, she would make it. After much deliberation, we settled on fish and chips, it was delicious, brilliant choice. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they are so warm and inviting. Please don't turn away because of the look of the outside, it's just cosmetic work, the inside is lovely, just like the ladies who serve you.

The people at the inn were very kind and friendly and made us feel welcome. They didn’t take cards but were happy to serve us with the promise that we would get money and come back to pay (which of course we did). The food was top notch and delicious, the scenery was beautiful with a fantastic view of river Annan. We will definitely go back again.
