Just popped into Quarter Cake Cafe in Annan for dinner. Had the sticky battered chicken in a sweet chilli sauce, served with half rice and half chips - absolutely delicious. Super friendly staff. Thanks 😁

We arrived in Annan on an august evening with no reservations for food and with a big family to feed. The Quarter Cake was recommended by some staff in the booked out Queensbury hotel. We were in luck, the place was so nice and welcoming. There was a huge choice of food on the menu for all tastes. I had the sloe gin parsnip and cranberry vegan burger which was accompanied by chunky home made chips and a delicious coleslaw salad. My husband and children had cheeseburgers, scampi, a steak dinner and kids chicken nuggets meal, followed by chocolate fudge cake and strawberries and cream. Everything was delicious, the staff explained they had opened just before the first covid lockdown and that business was now picking up. This business should be a huge success with knowledgeable staff and spotless tables and really quick service for noisy children and weary parents. Historical fact: the lovely girl who was working when we stopped by ( best friend of the owners daughter) explained the name Quarter cake comes from the local Annan river where the stone of the region was traditionally cut into quarters like a cake. The building which houses the restaurant in built from this local stone.

Situated just off the high street, it has its own out door area. indoor tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean, with a downstairs and upstairs area too, Tasty menu, with a selection of baguettes, cakes, milkshakes, teas and coffees, burgers, some hot food on the menu has a Mediterranean twist! the place is also licenced to sell beers and wine etc. Late night until 8 pm on a Friday and Saturday. Newly opened - it's family friendly and dog friendly too. We went along nearly every day, whilst staying locally. Well worth a visit.

My wife and I called in for a coffee and sat outside, at the rear of the premises, which felt like an extension of Aldi car park. We specifically asked if the Flat White coffee was a 'proper' one i.e. made with textured milk. We were assured that it was. However, when it arrived it was little more than a frothy cup of very hot milk, with no taste of coffee. We both left the drink after a couple of sips. The staff themselves were friendly enough and the inside of the place seemed neat, clean and tidy, however the tables were very close together and I imagine social distancing would be difficult. I have to say that the pricing is a bit on the expensive side. The flat white was £3.25! A browse of the menu revealed that a basic jacket potato with cheese was just under £7.00. All of the prices were noticeably dearer than those in Annan Distillery tearoom, which is a class above the Quarter Cake. I see no reason to return.

Having enjoyed eggs benedict with 2 eggs I returned and ordered the breakfast which stated there was bacon and eggs as well as other things. When it came I was disappointed to see egg not eggs. I queried it and was told by the waitress that they said eggs (plural) on the menu because you got a choice of how it was cooked. What a con. I did not then feel able to tell her that the mushrooms were cold and the beans only lukewarm. The potato cake was the thinnest and hardest I have ever tried to eat. Only later did I realise that there was no bacon. REALLY DISAPPOINTED

Have visited a few times because it's a lovely place and was much needed in Annan. Lovely having the outside seating and u forget all about the busy road in front or Aldi behind. The hot meals are reasonably priced but a slice of cake is extortionate at 10p short of a fiver for a slice. The scones are poor and similar to packet scones. I would recommend and will return but suggest trying the hot meals

First time. Last time. Way too slow, Latte, undrinkable. Small tea pot. Scampi good. Sweet chilli chicken, nice. Deserts poor. Especially when you are expecting cheesecake, and you get some broken Lotus biscuit, topped with cream and caramel in a Sundae glass 😱glass Also £7.60 for the latte, and tea 😵 Or is that just me ! Could be good, nice main courses.

One reviewer stated the menu was misleading, all I can say is the surprise I had on receiving the food was the portions were a good size and looked and tasted fantastic. Barbara and calley were lovely hostesses which matched the taste well presented food. Very highly recommended.

Only just opened when Covid forced closure. Now fully open and well worth a visit. I had the, 'small' all day breakfast which was very tasty and good value. My wife had pancakes with bacon and Maple syrup which she very much enjoyed. We were too full to have a dessert so took two lemon tarts home - they were delicious.

I have been here several times and the quality has gone downhill fast. Today the coffee was poor to say the least. It was changed for another and that too was undrinkable but it was still charged for. My hot chocolate, although Cadbury was weak but was drinkable. We have reservations about returning which is such a shame. The server was lacking in knowledge about making coffee, it was ground coffee but made as per an instant

Came in for dinner on a Saturday night. The food was really nice but the place was lacking atmosphere. A couple of candles or some lower lighting would go a long way for dinner service, as it definitely felt more like a day time venue. The cakes were absolutely to die for. SambucaPrawns will definitely be back in for lunch next time we're in the area!

We called here for coffee and really enjoyed our visit. Coffee and scones were both excellent. The whole menu is great with a splendid range of casual and mains dishes and we would definitely return here for lunch one day. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and prices reasonable.

Me and my partner went for lunch for the first time. Great quality meals and reasonably priced too, quick service and friendly staff. The veggie sausages were one of the nicest I’ve had and my partner said the macaroni cheese was amazing. Definitely will be back.

Bustling cafe with a great atmosphere. Loads of options on the extensive menu - everything you can think of from light bites to more substantial meals. We ordered a soup, a ham salad and an omelette with salad/chips. All were delicious, hot and generous. Flat white & tea were great too. We even forgot to order something & it was sorted instantly - fab service. Will definitely be back (and leave room for cake next time!).

A lovely clean, beautifully decorated coffee shop. All day breakfast, paninis, soup, sandwiches. Lots to choose from. Also dinners at weekends when kitchen opens later which looked great too but we were going home so sadly missed trying out a few options I fancied in the menu. Lovely friendly service and plenty of seating as they also have an upstairs too. Highly recommended.
