Food is really good here for a village pub. Good selection of drinks and attentive staff. Enjoyed ourselves immensely.

Met by rude staff, we hadn't booked a table so what were we doing there? Well I thought our business would be welcomed, ordered some small plates and left rather promptly. Frozen calamari and frozen scallops, ate more locally and found the food more appealing

Nice from the front, smelt like sewage when we walked in and sat down. We were too embarrassed to leave, so ordered some light bites and left sharpish. Wouldn't recommend

Was staying locally and chanced upon this place upon my walk around this quaint village. The pub smelt of, what can only be described as sewage. Decent pint of doombar I must say. Had a meal of soggy fish and chips, a very orange lady...was seemingly in charge of operations. She needs a lesson in manners, very snooty indeed. I did engage with the landlord outside but he looked like hed been dragged in off the street. All in all an average pub, in a downbeat village. Popped up to the other pub in the village and found a more welcoming atmosphereMore

Wee jocks came down to visit family and we decided upon this wee pub, in this quaint village. We must say it looked lovely from the outside, but we were shocked by the unfriendly welcome( we know we are jocks!!) But we were very surprised...at the unfriendly welcome. However we ordered from the menu. (Limited but we can understand) bangers and mash with lumpy mash, and a burnt pizza, and swearing blaring from the kitchen, unsettled our party of 4. The beer garden looked like the clear up from Loch lomond or Woodstock festival. From our viewpoint if this is the best coggeshall can offer, we can't wait to get back to ayrshire. Very very disappointedMore

We were booked into a local restaurant, but our booking was lost in the system, so we thought we would try this venue. Oh how I wish we hadn't, the covid pandemic is lost on this venue and was frankly embarrassing. Tables were mingling at...will,and staff couldn't control the situation. Onto the food we ordered a margarita pizza and ham egg and chips. Simple food that surely can't come out bad, oh how wrong we were. The pizza was cremated and the tomato sauce tasted fizzy, the ham on the ham egg and chips was slimy and the eggs were burnt. Chips were lovely, but we were too embarrassed to complain and paid our bill and left. Will not be back, as the place was 'dead' we can see whyMore

Popped in with my daughter having entered a place up the road that clearly was not Covid friendly. Wow what a find, loved it & my daughter has a number of allergens & the menu catered for her which was great. We lakes & joked...with the staff who made us feel so welcome, Good wine selection & great food, & this will more than likely become our meeting place.More

My husband and I had the best roast dinner and steak and chips at The Chapel Inn last week. The friendly staff and lovely atmosphere makes this a nice place eat and socialise with families and friends. Worth visiting 😊

Had been recommended to visit and didn’t leave disappointed. We took our 3 children and the range of food was outstanding and my son claimed the pizza to be the best he’d ever had! I was really pleased to see the staff following the COVID...guidelines, I work in the industry so know what good looks like, and the staff were so attentive. The specials (had the Pork Chop) were simply fabulous and Brett (the chef) came to speak to us after the meal. Despite living 15 miles out of Coggeshall this will be our new ‘go to’ place. Loved it.More
