Been to Peggotty's many many a time. Its a small hidden gem on the highstreet. They have their regulars who they are so attentive and thoughtful to. And they are just as friendly to new customers. Not an extensive menu, but the food is delicious...and something for everyone, not too fancy in its offerings. Cakes are good and fresh. My favourite is simply mushrooms on toast on thick sliced white bread. We have been going for years and have never had one bad experience, the bad experiences in the reviews I can only imagine are one off's. It's a small, but delicious, operation, great friendly staff and great simple food - what more can you ask forMore

Haven't been for a little while so decided to treat ourselves . Opened bang on time . Ascending the stairs took the best seats overlooking Rochester Cathedral. Very soon it was full ,testament to how good it is . Order taken and cooked fresh ....Very tasty well cooked and presented. The only minor gripe , probably red tape , no onions or black pudding . If you have room a delightful selection of cakes available too . We shall return . thank you Maddie & EmmaMore

Popped in to Peggoty's today, as we usually do when in Rochester, and ended up walking out after half an hour after not being served. After being shown to a table in good time, we waited to be served, as we'd expect. Two other couples...had, in the meantime, also come in and were shown to tables. The waitresses were dealing with other customers in a not overly busy setting at the time. Still we waited. One of the waitresses seemed more intent on cleaning tables than serving customers. Still we waited. After 30 minutes of waiting, one of the couples who had been seated after us was served. It was then that we decided to walk out. Not one of the waitresses or hosting staff, there seemed to be about 5 working at the time, even acknowledged us. To be fair we have always had really good service in the past but it is highly unlikely that we will return again.More

My Mum and I had a lovely lunch here today. I regularly visit Rochester but have never tried this place - wish I’d gone sooner. It’s really nice for a light lunch, breakfast or tea. The food was excellent, it was very reasonably priced and...good service. Very clean and it has a view of the cathedral. We’ll definitely return.More

We spotted Peggotys as we walked past - coming back at 2:15pm and ready to eat, we climbed the stairs to be confronted by a chain and a wireless doorbell. We rang it and waited, then were told by a member of staff that there...was a five minute wait and we were left standing on the stairs, looking at an empty table ahead. Another staff member came up the stairs, unclipped the chain, re-attached it and walked through without acknowledging us. It’s not The Ivy! What a shame - if we’d been shown to a table and given a menu, or even allowed to sit, we’d have stayed but we are now eating elsewhere…More

My husband and I felt very let down on our visit to Peggottys today… Where are the vegan options ? Where are the traditional mis -matched china cups and teapots? Where is the loose leaf tea with tea strainers ? Where is the the traditional...afternoon tea experience? Although the staff we’re delightful , Peggottys is jaded, tired and lacking atmosphere Such a shame , we have visited many times but this is the first time in 5 years What a disappointmentMore

Sat down for booked table at 12:30. Ordered quiche and avocado on toast within five minutes. Then left waiting. Cold coffees eventually served. Still left waiting for food. Asked for update at 1pm. Told it was being dished up. Food arrived at 13:07 with an...apology. Table for two next to us ordered the same thing and it arrived promptly, so left wondering if the order was neglected and only came out because we prompted them. Food quality reasonable but service so disappointing I couldn’t give more than two stars for this first impression.More
