A must-visit on your next trip to Mauritius. Full of old world charm Le Château de Bel Ombre was one of the highlights of our trip. Perfect location for a dinner & evening stroll in the garden. The customer service is top notch and truly...made our visit memorable. Special shoutout to Jerome (The manager) who took great care of us. We also loved the wine tasting experience at their in-house cellar hosted by Ornella. Will definitely visit again!More

My daughter and I were looking forward to dining at the chateau, we arrived to a very warm welcome by the staff and were given the option of sitting inside or outside,we chose outside. My daughter is vegan so she chose the 1 vegan option...( when booking we also mentioned that she is vegan). We were offered water and given the menu,we were given bread which was well presented and fresh. We had to wait a while to catch the attention of the waiter to ask for a wine menu which was presented on an I pad, We waited some time before the waiter came back to take our drinks order. Meal wise I am vegetarian so I order the risotto. We were both given an appetiser of prawns which we were astounded at obviously not vegan or vegetarian. Another vegetarian option was given to us, which was a nice gesture. Our main course arrived this was a disaster,my daughters meal had cheese all over the top, my risotto was shaped in to a dome, the meal was very dry,as we all know risotto should be gloopy. The waiter took my daughters meal away immediately, he returned some time later with the vegan option, this was absolutely one of the worst presented and tastes meals that my daughter has ever had. We both left most of our main course. We have been staying at the Heratage Awali , my daughter has been absolutely delighted with the meals at the hotel, not one mistake occurred during our 9 night stay. My daughter has has the most incredible vegan meals ,dining at all of the specialty and buffet restaurants. The waiter was very apologetic, he said that we did not need to pay anything, we immediately asked to get the bus back to our hotel .More

Was so disappointed, the service was terrible and the food was luke warm/cold, table of 6 and all of us had cold food. Drinks were not offered and the wine list was on a ipad. The waiter apologised and said the food was cold because...it was a windy day ! This was for a birthday celebration meal, one of the worse meal we have ever had !More

Unique fine dining with an emphasis on local produce at just a beautiful historic location. Fairly priced. I recommend to pop in for a wine tasting to their gorgeous wine cellar with sommelier before dinner for an exclusive experience and insider insights, just like we...did. I did regret not coming at a day time as a venue was so gorgeous, so came back the next day just for a walk in the grounds. The views and park were stunning. Would definitely go for a special occasion.More

The food is consistently good. Dining on the covered verandas with a breeze is very pleasant in the tropical heat. The ambiance is magical in this grand old Colonial Chateau. The Resident Chefs are accomplished. Visiting Michelin Starred Chefs add to the culinary experience.

We came for dinner on Christmas Eve, having booked months in advance. First, the building and grounds are absolutely gorgeous. It's a lovely location and you get to watch the fruit bats, stars twinkling and distant lightning from the veranda. The staff here are also...friendly and attentive. The let down for us was the food. Now, to be clear - the food was good, it just wasn't £275 a head good, which was the price per person for Christmas Eve. We know Christmas Eve will always command a huge premium, just like New Year's Eve does - but we were expecting something utterly special for that kind of money, and it simply fell short. Half the price and we might have been saying 'it was excellent' - but the value proposition just wasn't quite right. By the way, we are happy to spend good money on amazing meals, and have been lucky to eat in dozens of Michelin Star restaurants all over the world. This wasn't one of them, and we could tell. However, we might come back another day, when prices are more reasonable and at that time we might think it was great. Give it a try, enjoy the grounds but be aware what we thought about the value on the night we went. Also, comment to owners - your photographer for the evening was invasive, almost no one wants someone taking their photo all night, perhaps next year be more subtle. Further to that, a woman approached us to survey us at the end of night - that has never happened before, ever, and isn't appropriate at a fine dining restaurant, you are not a tourist attraction.More
