Classic New Mexican diner here, and the family recipe for carne adovada is as good or better than any other you will find. Served with huge, super fluffy sopapillas. This is a must experience in New Mexico. Like so many places these days, the are...a bit understaffed, but service was very friendly. It seemed like everyone in the place was a regular as servers all seemed to know what every diner's "the usual" was. If you want the real New Mexican deal, this is it, and it's right next to classic route 66.More
Average - enough that I probably will not return. I had enchiladas, and they were okay. Nothing to get excited about. It was so understaffed, you need to order your food at the front register and then it gets delivered to your table.
While the restaurant is much more unassuming than other places we visited on our New Mexico trip, it was hands down the best food. Carne Adovada was so tender and flavorful and the beans were so much better than any other restaurant.
If your traveling thru Albuquerque and wondering what all the fuss about New Mexican chili is. Look no further. My family has been coming to El Charritos for over 20 years and it's as good as ever. This family owned restaurant is dishing out amazing...flavors. As close to Grandmas home made authentic New Mexican food you might have a hard time finding.More
We were very presently surprised to find such a quality restaurant right across the street from our motel. The Mexican food was very reasonably priced and our waitress was very helpful. Sopapillas and honey we’re great Good food Friendly Staff
El Charritos is where the locals go to enjoy authentic New Mexican food. Hot, flavorful chile and a homey atmosphere. Only downside is no liquor license.
Great new Mexican food I probably shouldn’t be putting this on TripAdvisor because I don’t want it to get over popular it’s that good
We were staying across the street and walked over for the convenience. There was way too much food to eat. Our server was awesome, and I overtipped her. There were plenty of locals there for a Sunday night supper.
A resident of Albuquerque suggested we meet him here for lunch. What a great suggestion! Two of us ordered the Carne avodada, one with red chili and one Christmas. The pork was tender and lean, the red chili was delicious, with a hint of spice...and the green chili was a bit hotter and very flavorful.More
This was the first time I went to El Charritos Restaurant. It was recommended to me just last week by people who thought it was of the best in Albuquerque. I have to agree. The food was delicious. I had chicken enchiladas with both red...and green chile. I took an order of carne adavada with red chile home to my husband. The red chile is their family recipe and it is delicious. Definitely will visit this restaurant again.More
Had the breakfast with eggs red chili bacon and fried potatoes breakfast was like Mama cooked it it was so good and homemade tasting I was expecting a homemade tortilla but it wasn't it was store bought that is my only complaint and why I...didn't give that extra star but don't let that stop you believe me you won't be disappointedMore
This is one of my favorite new Mexican restaurants the chili is always hot the food is always good and the service is always delivered in a friendly manner. I had an Alucard chile relleno and an ala carte chicken enchilada smothered with green chili...lettuce and tomato garnish my client had the carne adovada burrito and he ate every bit of it and it was large. I like this restaurant because the prices are very reasonable and the staff is always friendly.More
They don’t offer any alcohol at all. The sauces were not very good. Maybe they should offer a milder green chili for us gringos. My chili Rellano was very good, but dry because the red sauce was not good at all.
My client had the ground beef enchiladas with red chili , beans and rice and a tamale. I had an ala carte chile relleno and a chicken enchilada with green chili. I had to get some extra water as the green chili was super hot...today but the food is tasty and always delicious here.More
