Alice May restaurant & bar offers delicious food... but it also comes with the interesting story of Alice May! Indoor/Outdoor/outdoor undercover seating....this place offers it all. Lovely setting & decor. Friendly service. I had roasted cauliflower soup and hubby had beef cheeks... both delicious! Well...rounded menu. On tap beer and adequate selection of wine.More

Went in for dinner . Didn't realise it had a rich/colourful history. Great spot, awesome beats and amazing staff who looked after me. She was wonderful! Beer with steak and some awesome music, what more could I ask for.

Read all the reviews beforehand about how amazing this restaurant was, so we booked a table in advance. Food was good (not amazing) staff were ok but felt our dinner was very rushed even though restaurant was only half full, just felt overall experience sadly...disappointing.More

We really enjoyed our meal at Alice May. Themed pub was pretty interesting and decor was unique and provided some cool history / points of interest while you wait. We both opted for pub grub winter warmer plates - Lamb Shank and Sausage & Mash,...which were both very well done and nicely portioned. But... to be honest, the pudding was the best part. The Sticky Toffee Pudding was 10/10 would do again. The staff were lovely and really attentive, and all round it was a nice place to go after an afternoon spent in the thermal pools.More

Had a delightful dinner here. My wife really enjoyed her yellow curry (gluten free) and I thoroughly endorse the local whitebait dish. Great views as we were able sit outside in warm weather. Nice beers and cider on tap. It's also much better value for...money than The Landing - the other local bar/restaurant.More

Our group of 3 thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. I had the braised lamb shank (cooked and served to perfection). The other adult meal in our group was the Akaroa salmon. The kids meal had notable variety as well, and we had bangers and mash....All scrumptious meals!More

The service at the restaurant is pretty good with the staff very accomodating. The arancini and whitebait was not bad but the mains were slightly disappointing. Food portions are on the generous side.
