Food , beer and politeness and helpfulness of staff second to none. Great evening. Really good local beer. Food more than substantial.

Interesting memorabilia telling the story of local legend Alice May, but more importantly the food was amazing and the server was attentive.

Exceptional food and great staff. There were four people in our party and we had three different dishes between us. The worst part was deciding what to have!! We all commented on the good menu and the quality of the food. The dishes not only...tasted good, but we felt it represented good value for money. The restaurant was busy (which is always a good sign) but that didn't affect the service which was efficient and waiting time was minimal. Had a really friendly waitress that we enjoyed good banter with. Excellent dining - fully recommend this place.More

This place was humming on a saturday night, we had to sit outside but heaters were a good option as would of frozen otherwise. The very few front of house staff were running but didnt seem stressed and had time to chat and recommend meals....Our meals came out very quickly and were delicious.More

Lovely meal and nice decor with some history added in. Wait staff were polite and attentive. On my visit it was raining heavily (nothing unusual for the west coast) and all the windows and doors were closed which made it humid and stuffy. I would...have liked a ceiling fan or a couple of slightly open window perhaps to circulate the air, particularly so in these pandemic times where fresh air is a must really. I enjoyed my meal and didn’t feel rushed to leave like solo diners can often experience. Thanks.More

We noticed on our 2 week South Island trip that you tended to pay a little more in F.J. then other places whether it be accommodation a helicopter trip or a meal. I had the Venison Sausages my wife white bait starter as a main,...good size portions good service, paid F.J. prices though not off the scale. Would recommend.More

Attentive staff. Great venue atmosphere. The food was delicious, and just what we needed after travelling and feeling like something more homestyle with a twist.

Best Whitebait fritters in the West! In fact the 4 of us enjoyed the whole experience, from the staff to the food to the ambiance! We'll be back!
