I guess if the chef had the resources Manhattan chefs are enjoying, then the food might have been better. This is the best option around the area (within 2 hours of driving). One might as well stay grateful.

Cold restaurant, cold soup, raw burgers

We went in for a nice cozy dinner after a long, cold winter day, but sadly the restaurant was also extremely cold to sit in. So we decided to order a soup to heat us up, and then they brought us a soup which was a pretty small amount and also cold. Probably just half way heated up in the microwave… We also ordered some burgers which were fine, however they were pretty raw in the middle. I know some like it medium, but if that is the restaurant’s standard, at least they should tell it when ordering. Also the only dip we got to the fries was ketchup, which is I think pretty lame compared to the price of the dishes. All in all the food tasted good that’s why they get 3 stars.

Delicious Lamb Buger

Came here for lunch after visiting the Waterfall. Very busy, but staff rapidly found us room and english menus. The icelandic soup was a hearty vegetable and meat mix, very appertising very filling. The lamb burger was a large portion with all the accompaniments but not too heavy, very delicious. Local larger was tasty and an excellent complement to the food. If you are visiting the Skogassfoss watefall then this Bistro is a great place to stop for some refreshment.

Super view, food and service - not consistent?

We ate breakfast and dinner 2x here (breakfast was part of a hotel stay). Both were excellent. Service was prompt and the food and craft beer were both excellent (first dinner) and unfortunately then only good for the second. (You choose a seat and order and pay at the bar, then they bring your food to you). Based on the “method” described for ordering etc I was expecting a cafeteria style and quality but was so wrong. This is a hip bistro with a stunning view. Ribs were outstanding and the green salad with boiled eggs was large enough to be an entree. We returned to eat exactly the same meal again after 2 days hiking and were a bit disappointed. The ribs and salad were still good but the preparation and presentation were really sloppy. (Ribs missing sauce, salad 1/2 the size of the first one with less vegetables). I'd still give it another try based on the first experience and the fab. location.

A perfect hotel in a perfect location.

From arriving at the hotel, to dinner in the evening, sleeping and then breakfast in the morning, there wasn't a thing I could possibly fault. All staff were friendly and inviting and they allowed us to store our bags in the morning whilst we went out hiking. The food in the restaurant was very tasty and large portions and the breakfast had a very wide variety of options including fresh fruit, breads, skyr, bacon, eggs and other items. I would definitely visit again and come out of my way to visit on future trips. The waterfall room is well worth the upgrade. The hotel is very close but to be able to see it at all times really was a treat

The inside is nice - big views. It's close to Skogasfoss parking lot. The service was marginal. Cold attitudes. We ordered sandwiches - the bread doused with butter and grilled. My chicken was rubbery and difficult to chew. The French fries on our plates were all dark and overcooked. Maybe we chose wrong off the menu. Pricey as per normal in Iceland. In the photo the sandwich you see is probably about 23USD Something fresh on the plate maybe? Nice clean area to use the bathroom before driving out.

Lamb soup

We visited here as a family after a whole Day of sightseeing. The waiters were really Nice. The lamb soups were delicious and with lots of pieces of lamb meat. There was water and bread ad libitum. Would Come again for some lamb

We stopped here after visiting the waterfall with a small tour bus. First off, the staff was exceptional. There were obviously other tours, of like 30+ people, all sat at the same time and staff took care of everyone very well. I remember thinking that the prices were a bit high for lunch, but our food was good. The lamb burger was excellent.

In a corner of good food surrounded by wild nature

Impressive view of one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland. We stay in hotels, simple rooms but adapted to the situation. The restaurant is good, the staff is friendly and caring. We chose to eat Italian meats and dishes, all better than in many restaurants in Italy. A place to recommend. Thanks, everyone.

Fantastic Food

Great food in a tourist area is almost unheard of. Not in Iceland at the Skogafoss Restaurant at the hotel. The Char, Lamb, and believe it or not the Turkey was absolutely amazing! The staff was great and the food was absolutely delicious!

Nice Dinner

We had a reservation here but arrived earlier than expected. They were kind enough to seat us early. However after sitting at a nice window table we quickly learned why everyone else was sitting outside - it was like an oven with the sun beating through the windows. The staff seemed put out when we asked to move outside and we were told that there was no room. Eventually a tiny table opened and we moved. We had to carry our own glasses, cutlery, etc. We ordered tomato pasta, a beef burger and a fish burger. The food was fine - nothing exciting. Having a peek a boo view of the falls was nice.

Good lunch option near the waterfall

We liked this restaurant. It’s a good option if you are out for the day….I had read about it prior to our visit and sort of planned our trip to the waterfall around having lunch here. It is a very nice “cafeteria style” set up. So, they seat you and then you order and pay at the counter and they bring you the food. But, a good place to hang out when the weather isn’t great either.

Disappointing food & service

If you're looking to pay big money for mediocre food and service then this is the place for you. $52 for chicken breast that still left our 14 yr old daughter hungry. We had to constantly ask for more water. The only positive is that it has a beautiful view and you get bread.

Fine place to eat

We had lamb and the ubiquitous Arctic char, and it was great. The partial view of the falls past the parking lot is not amazing but is as good as it gets here. The ambiance is a little underwhelming, feels a bit sterile, but the service is excellent and the bathrooms are super clean.

we are staying in an annex of this hotel. within walking distance of the waterfall, which we visited in the evening and then there was hardly anyone there, highly recommended. We had a delicious meal here, home-baked bread, chicken lasagna lamb and spaghetti (we were 6) The desserts are also not to be missed.
