Great location. Great accommodation. Great service. Breakfast various and fresh with a lot of choices, the coffee and the almond cake we had was the best you could have. For the dinner we had smoked duck and smoked salmon, a scallop Risotto and a perfect cooked lamb in a calm and peacefull atmosphere with two young guys well prepared about God and wines. Top experience

Food was ok, limited choices and server was not well informed. Was a bit disappointed in this overall location for hotel and restaurant.

Eat here with a great view of waterfall. We only stopped here for lunch as there aren’t many places in this area to choose from.
Food ok, but huge portions, 1 dish could easily feed 2 people. Again as in much of Iceland they’re catering for the Americans with big portions and fries with everything.
Not bad choice of menu for lunch. But save money are share a meal. You’ll have more than enough.

Why do I fee ripped off and taken advantage of:
1. DID NOT ACCOMMODATE : When we arrived @ Noon-ish we were told we had to come back at 3 PM to check in. NO ONE WAS IN THE PARKING LOT! Today, upon checking out early (more on that in a moment) 16 people blocked the tiny lobby and were checking in. IT WAS NOON! Accommodating is basic to the HOSPITALITY!
2. I emailed earlier about the flu i was just getting over. Had a fever. Called my doc and he said stay close to a medical center (I’ve had pneumonia 6 times!). They would not ACCOMMODATE by canceling!
2b: Weather forced us to leave a day earlier for fear of missing our flight. Not only did the charge us for the cancelled day (NON-ACCOMMODATING AGAIN!) The actually booked it in front of us to the folks crowding the teeny-tiny lobby area (they could’ve been directed to the dining area!) .....ADDING INSULT TO INJURY. Where did these folks go to school for their “hospitality” training? WOW!
3. Inside the room stuff: NICE BIG ROOM in the “was-once” an attic space, BUT: soap machine in Teeny-Tiny shower was broken. I found it under the sink.
4. The radiant heat was INADEQUATE....and they were fully aware of that without telling us. How do we know they were aware, the room had a 200 Watt portable electric heater I found .
5. Restaurant: Breakfast was mediocre and they ran out. Dinner was mediocre and expensive, far more than a restaurant in the heart of New Orleans, for example, and not nearly as good: the lamb was undercooked and I had to spit out a huge piece as it was unbeatable.
Person bringing BREAKFAST food out of the kitchen for the “free” buffet should look cleaner with hair combed and in order....this was not the case for our service.
Person who served dinner (and checked us in @ 3:))PM!) was exceptional.
6. Nails on the wall without pictures and some of the picture fell off the wall...the one right behind my pillow!
7. WiFi service was TERRIBLE.
I would not recommend this hotel, even though it has a good location. They are not accommodating......

My wife had the Lamb soup and loved it. Beer was good and staff friendly and helpful. View of the falls was spectacular as were the animals roaming around. Price was in line.

We stayed at the hotel. Restaurant options in Skogar are somewhat limited, so we decided to try the hotel restaurant. We were very pleasantly surprised. Service was friendly and efficient. There was a nice selection of tasty local beers and the food was delicious. I particularly liked the local lobster and lamb. My husband thought the Arctic Char was fantastic.

After reading some reviews we decided to have a meal there and were not disappointed. In spite of some dietary requirements the staff addressed it very efficiently. The food was delicious and would recommend this place without hesitation.

We arrived late to the hotel and we decided to have dinner there. It's our first night in Iceland and we were so impressed by their food. My husband and I ordered seafood and their Cappuccino lobster soup was so yummy. Their fish was very fresh too. My children ordered lamb dishes and the meat was so tender. We all enjoyed our fist dinner in Iceland.

The layout of ambiance of the restaurant is really good, one of the better restaurants in the area. The food was great, this was the first place we had Skyr, which if you are in Iceland is a dessert you must try. The service and staff was great and made you feel right at home.

We had dinner here two nights in a row. The restaurant is small and elegantly cozy. The food was well-prepared and quite good. We tried the lamb, salmon and fish dishes. They also offer a vegetarian dish each day. Our waiter the first night was perhaps new? He was polite but not very attentive. The young man from the front desk helped him out a bit.
Their breakfasts are excellent--something for everyone.

Nice restaurant, part of a charming little hotel. As anywhere else in Iceland, fish is the focus, and it was delicious. Very nice hostess/waitress.

After visiting Skógafoss on a surprisingly warm day, we were thirsty and hungry. Hotel Skogar is steps away from the waterfall, so we went for lunch. We were the only guests and we were received warmly. The dining room is a bit more upscale than we expected for a quick and casual lunch, and the menu was also a bit on the fancy side. We requested some minor modifications to the dishes we ordered to accommodate a vegetarian, and that was no problem. Overall, this was a pleasant place to have lunch!

The starters need improvement but the main course (lamb) was good and the Crème brûlée was excellent. As a whole, a little bit disappointing but not bad. The staff was friendly though.
