Amazing hidden treasure of the golden circle. Definitely worth a stop. Especially when it's cold out. In door tomato farm is heated and has delicious hot tomato soup and fresh baked bread. The rest of the meal was delicious as well.
Along the drive”Golden Circle Tour”, we stopped at this family run Farm where it’s all about tomatoes! They harness geothermal energy, use artificial lights + a climate control system to grow tomatoes and vegetables all year round. Our guide let us savour these delicious tomatoes....Afterwards, we got to eat the famous tomato soup with delicious home bread ( different varieties) ..it was also all you can eat ! After the lunch, we were taken to the stables where we saw a horse show, then we got to meet the friendly horses.More
I've never eaten at a greenhouse before, but this place is magic and has ruined me for any other kind of tomato. The soup and bread were divine, and our group tour was very educational. And the horseback riding demonstration and stable visit was so...much fun! Book it in advance if you want to get both sides of Fridheimar!More
An absolute must for a great meal, service, and education to one of the worlds most unique agricultural landscapes. Thriving off of what the earth gives them--the geothermal energy--to produce incredible vegetables year round. A tremendous stop and the food is fabulous. Icelandic horses on...premesis worth a look as well.More
Overhyped tourist trap I suppose the idea of eating in a greenhouse with farm to table goods is enticing. Unfortunately everyone seems to have the same idea. The restaurant is located on the ring road on the way to geysir and Gullfoss just a stones...throw from faxi. The venue itself is beautiful but that’s about all that’s great about this space. The crowd is entirely rude pushy American tourists who constantly cut the line. The hostess can’t be bothered but seems to get cheap thrills telling unsuspecting would be patrons that they’re all booked for the day. Note to those who are dead set on visiting - book a table. Well well well in advance. And be prepared to wait. I saw people waiting almost an hour for their table. I also saw at least 10 open tables so clearly they need to fix their reservation system. You can either order tomato soups and sit at the bar or order takeaway. The servers at the bar will rudely remind you that takeaway patrons are not allowed to eat on the premises but someone saw me struggling with three kids and told us to sit outside to eat (we got about 10 mins in before a hailstorm ruined our meal). All in all a terrible experience. The food is average - the tomato soup was fine. Nice to not eat tomato soup that has been tarnished with heavy creams. It was fresh. The tortilla pizza was pitiful and tasted like cardboard.More
MOST amazing freshest good eats. The soup was stellar and the homemade bread was epic. I couldn't help myself to seconds as well as the entire table. Tried the bloody mary, green tomato beer, and Happy Mary drinks. Highly recommend and so flavorful. Great setup...and friendly staff.More
Excellent place to stop by. The vines and flowers add to the amazing ambiance, the entire place smells great when you walk in, and the home baked bread and the soup was perfect. Will definitely come back if in the area
What a unique and awesome experience. The restaurant is inside a greenhouse. You are sitting among the tomato plants and flowers. The food was out of this world. We had the tomato soup, bread, and tomato with buratta. Recommend this restaurant for couples, families, or...just yourself if you are looking for something different.More
BAD experience was hoping to get nice and tasty lunch ,but got BIG disappointment from them Ordered soups, chicken skewers and past Pasta when I asked the waiter they are buying from shop Chicken was dry and old as the cheese mouldy Soup blend whit...out any love in itMore
Lovely restaurant. The soup and bread were delicious. Looking forward to going back in November. My son had the ice cream and let us all have a taste, delicious.
Had lunch here as part of a tour stop but had seen this recommended when researching Iceland. Although on the pricey side for lunch, it was worth the experience. Food was delicious (including the drinks - especially the Bloody Mary!). The team were friendly and...knowledgable about the farm and the overall impressive operation of the business.More
We stopped by this place for lunch after seeing it on Travel Man. The menu is all tomato based dishes with plenty of choice, especially for vegetarians. We opted for the soup which comes with an unlimited bread buffet. Both were delicious. However at £80...for two bowls of soup, two non alcoholic drinks and two puddings, it was quite pricey!More
The most quirky place I've eaten to date. We chose our Golden Circle tour based on the fact that they stopped here! We were given a tour of the horse stables and then the greenhouses before being shown to our table amongst the plants. You...didn't have to order food but it seemed silly not to. I've seen other reviews saying it was expensive, but for Iceland I thought it was good value. Especially as you could visit the tomato soup buffet multiple times. The breads were amazing, especially the cheese and olive crust one. Picking and adding your own basil was cute too. Would have loved to try a dessert, but was stuffed full of soup and the bus was waiting!More
Great concept throughout! Everything was delicious (best bread in iceland!) and the staff was super friendly. Would definitely go again
