This restaurant is exquisite! There are giant windows on all four sides, offering every guest a beautiful view. The staff is so friendly and polite and the food is amazing! We highly recommend the reindeer carpaccio with Parmesan and truffle oil. The entire experience feels very chic and the cocktails are creative and delicious (their liquor bottle collection is limitless!). The only hitch we found throughout the service in all of Iceland is that the waitstaff is a bit slow and you may have to ask for assistance, more than once. That said, bar none, everyone was so kind and lovely. I highly recommend this restaurant and can’t think of a better way to end a day of exploring Iceland!

The breakfast which is included with your stay at the hotel is exceptional. It is part buffet and part menu. The buffet features homemade breads, pastries, fruit, skyr with granola and fruit and waffles. The menu has eggs, porridge and a vegan option. The setting in the morning light is lovely. Dinner was equally well done. The menu features local meats and fish deliciously prepared and pared with their accompaniments. My favorite was the Mushroom soup and the Cod in dill sauce. The service was very good and the owner made a point of speaking to every guest.

I saw the pop up on my phone as a local restaurant. we were in Hella. we stopped here for our first night dinner in Iceland. the remote location was different. our greeter asked what room we were in and i stated we are not staying here. he left and conferred with another person whispering. not sure what he said. he then returned to me and guided us to the window front facing the river. great view! i ordered a wine/champagne. some dips were presented with the bread and butter. delicious, we thought. we ordered a salad as an appetizer. it came with their own house dressing. very good. we ordered the cod and salmon. it was presented in a fine manor and the side dish was ok. (sorry, i do not remember) overall the $124 bucks seemed high, but we thought it was well worth the service, the food and the view!

We had a reservation that we were over an hour late after calling to speak to let them know of our delay from an excursion they stayed open late to serve food. We had the most excellent three courses were made very welcome not rushed. I can’t speak highly enough of the top notch food and warm staff. We will most definitely return and spend all evening the ambience was stunning warm log cabin feeling. Thank you Hotel Rangá thank you Glass Cottages for arranging.

We came here for dinner and were not disappointed - both the view, the food, and the service were lovely. Their wild mushroom soup was a flavour symphony and is a must, while the variety of main dishes can also please everyone. They have vegan options as well, but I believe meat and fish eaters are to get better value for their money. Overall a great place to enjoy a lovely meal.

The dining room has a full view of the beautiful scenery at Hotel Ranga. We saw beautiful sunsets as we ate our dinner. The food was delicious. We especially enjoyed the fish and chips and chicken dishes. We tried the Puffin dish which was interesting. We were glad to see a variety of traditional and local dishes on the menu. Oh and the bread was amazing.

At first it wasn't easy to get a reservation as a non-hotel guest! The log cabin-style ambience is pleasant. Great view of the river that flows past the building. The selection on the menu is typical for southern Iceland, the quality of the food is average, although very nicely presented. They make an effort, but just don't manage to live up to the house's standards; the main courses were good, but the quantity was limited. We found it unpleasant that the waiter constantly rushed us through the menu. As soon as the plate was empty, the food was immediately cleared away and we were asked for more food or dessert or the bill was offered. This meant that we only needed 50 minutes for a three-course meal and were then escorted out again. Overall, not appropriate for the price and the actually very stylish ambience. It's a shame, we would have loved to spend more time here and maybe even visited the great bar.

I had a 3-course dinner at this restaurant which turned out to be very disappointing. You would think that a 4-star hotel like this will offer decent food, but no. The salat I had had absolutely no taste, no seasoning, nothing. I was given some apple vinegar but I tasted it and didn’t think it matched with the greens, so I didn’t use it. The main dish was a cauliflower steak which turned out to be very blend as well, no gravy, no spices, just nothing apart from salt. It just proved that the cook had no imagination whatsoever in making a vegan meal. The sorbet as dessert was the only thing which had some taste. I had to go to the reception to grab their chocolate which is on offer to hotel guests in between courses just to have some taste and not to go starving hungry.

Unless you have a window table, you are just too close to others to feel comfortable. The menu gives a wide selection, and the portion size and taste were good. Service was sometimes a little slow, which mars the overall experience.

We stayed at hotel Rangá for two nights and dined at the restaurant both nights. We were indecisive about reservation times since we got delayed traveling and the staff were very flexible and accommodating. Our first night we met Razman our waiting who was so great. He was professional and attentive but also offered great recommendations when asked and we really enjoyed our dining experience. All of his recommendations were great- we started with the beef salad, so good-the 4 of tried different entrees. Salmon, cod, lamb and beef, all delicious. Our second night we didn't get back to hotel til after 9 when they usually stop servicing but since we called they were able to accommodate us- I think we got them at 9:10, despite our tardiness, we didn't feel rushed. Razvan greeted us and said another server would be taking care of us but then he ended up chatting with us, gave some more recommendations and then ended up being our server, much to our delight! He is very professional and soft spoken but also so kind. It was my birthday and not only did they bring dessert (my husband and kids pre-arranged that) he brought us a celebratory taste of after dinner cordial and never rushed us even though we were the last ones there. He did not do it for a tip, Hotel Ranga has a policy that any tips go to charities in the area. We loved our entrees the second night as well, ordered several appetizers and shared an entree to try new options- all delicious. Highly recommend!

Our group of five sampled a lot of different dishes, from the smoked puffin, scallop and mushroom soup starters to the beef, lamb, monkfish, and seafood risotto entrees. We were impressed overall. The bread, served complimentary, was the only thing really not worth the calories. The wine list is extensive and priced as one comes to expect in Iceland. Service was attentive.

This is a gourmet dining experience. I ate here twice during our stay and both dishes that I tried were fantastic. The salmon was the best I have ever had and the seafood risotto was delicious. The service is wonderful as well. All of the staff at Ranga hotel and restaurant were so friendly and helpful. The prices were very fair for the quality and quantity.

Really good food but like much of iceland it or very expensive. We got the salad, the lamb, and the cauliflower; all of which were expensive but good. Then we ordered the carrot cake (more like a carrot cake panacotta but delicious nevertheless) and the berry cobbler which was seasonal and SO GOOD! The skyr ice cream was a delicious touch!

Friendly welcome but more than ordinary food and without much flavor. Pizza, burger… in short, everything that smells prefabricated. Cleanliness to be reviewed (bottle of greasy oil on the table, marks on the glasses and cutlery, etc.) This establishment will not leave a lasting memory (except to avoid it next time)

Pleasant restaurant with staff that really makes you feel welcome. Not too many items on the menu, but enough for everyone to find something irresistible and come back the next day for something else just as appetizing. Nice wine menu and some really good Icelandic beer. Fast service. The breakfast is wonderful.
